This is not a new movie, but one which I really enjoyed and will give you a good portrait of pre-Katrina New Orleans. It is the first major picture from Shainee Gabel and stars Scarlett Johansson as a bitter young woman who returns to New Orleans for the funeral of a mother she never really knew and John Travolta as a dirty old man who challenges her in many ways. The dialogue and storyline are very well written, cinematography is great, and the acting is well done thanks to the above along with Gabriel Macht and Debra Kara-Unger.

Well worth a rental, but if you enjoy movies like Crash or An Unfinished Life you wouldn't do wrong to just put it on your Amazon wish-list.

yea, i saw the movie jsut for scarlett and thought it was very nicely done. I was expecting a boring movie but it kept my attention. would recommend also

I liked Scarlett from Girl with a Pearl Earring and Ghostworld and was surprised how much I liked John Travolta -- I generally didn't think much of him until I saw him as Bobby Long.
