Fall 2006 Movies! What are you excited to see?
Labor Day is almost here, which means we're about to enter the best movie-going months of the year. Between September and December, there's a ton of great/awards worthy movies due for release. Anyone want to discuss what's coming out soon and what they're excited to see? Some of the most anticipated upcoming releases:

Casino Royale
In my mind, nothing else matters. |
The Guardian
Night At The Museum Will? I expected nothing less... in fact when I saw the movie title I thought of you I bet Pan will sell body parts to see the John Lennon movie. |
Oh, I DO so hope Marie Antoinette is going to be good! It's either going to be good or it's going to SUCK. I LOVE historical stuff like that... and the costumes are going to be just goregous!

Casino Royale (very interested to see a fresh take, recent ones were generic)
The Black Dhalia possibly the Fountain (concept looks interesting) and the Good Shepherd and definitely one you forgot, The Protector. While it might not ever be considered a masterpiece of modern cinema, Tony Jaa is a bad mofo, so I'm all in. |
Okay, I forgot about the Fountain. That looks good, too.

The Prestige
I read the book a couple of years ago and loved it. I was really excited to hear that its being directed by Christopher Nolan and stars such a fine cast. Hell, David Bowie is in it! Oh man, do I ever want to spoil the ending. :D |

The Prestige - fantastic trailer and the cast and director promise a really good movie.
Borat - I can't remember the last time a trailer has made me laugh so hard. And knowing what Sacha Baron Cohen is capable of because of the show, I just know this movie will warrant me bringing an extra pair of pants to the theater. The Science of Sleep - I didn't see this in your list, but I believe this is coming out soon and I cannot wait to see it. Gael Garcia Bernal is one of my favorite young actors and Michele Gondry is one of those directors who can do no wrong in my mind. |

I'm also anticipating Employee of the Month because Dane Cook is farking hilarious. |
Why thank you :D
|
The Fountain (Because Darren Aronofsky is FANTASTIC!)
also The Prestige and Fearless |
Damn, how could I forget what might be Jet Li's last flic? Add Fearless to the top of my list.
I would go for Employee too, but I just don't think PG-13 can do Dane justice. That, and there is no chance of Simpson poppin one (or both) of her tatas out. |
Definitely looking forward to
'The Last Kiss' 'The Illusionist' 'The Painted Veil' and 'Running With Scissors' |
Casino Royale and Fast Food Nation, Im a HUGE Richard Linklater fan, and have seen everything he has done. This won't be the exception!
|
I can tell you one movie I wont be seeing.... The Wicker Man.... I cant believe they remade that movie.... I like Nick Cage... but this role isnt one I can see him in..... he doesnt fit. Those who have seen the orig 1973 film will understand why
(since I cant do that spoiler thingy) |

Casino Royale
The Fountain Apocalypto Eragon I know Mel Gibson has alot of critics but I think he's a good director and I'm really looking forward to an epic film about the Mayans. An Eragon trailer leaked on the web recently. It's also looking pretty good. I have the book on my shelf but I haven't read it because I'm just too lazy and it's just to frickin thick :) There's probably a few more but I just haven't seen enough to have any real interest about them. |
All the King's Men
There is nothing else I want to see. I don't know how many of you have read the Pulitzer-prize winning book by Robert Penn Warren (published many decades ago), but it's incredible. The story of the rise and fall of Willie Stark, governor of Louisiana, portrayed after the real-life megalomaniac governor Huey Long. It was the first "real" novel I read in high school, my junior year, and it kicked my ass... 11 years later, I think it would still kick my ass. I hope to read it (or at least browse it) again soon before seeing the film. |
I just saw the Trailer for The Departed. I'm looking forward to it. Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg directed by Martin Scorsese. Woo I hope it doesn't suck :)
