So Tired of the Dreck From the Studios
I can't remember the last movie I payed for to see in a theater. Honestly. There has not been one recent film that even remotely looked interesting. Why are the studios turning out sequels we don't want to see and useless stories nobody cares about?
So prove me wrong. What single movie would you recommend to me to end my cynicism? The movie must currently be in theaters this month (June, 2003) and you must have seen it. |

I could see why it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I would reccomend Reloaded, as long as you have seen the first one. But, yeah, you're right, ain't a whole lot on right now, and things don't look too Hot for the rest of the summer either! (Pardon the unintentional pun!)

I don't see how you can say that they're coming out with sequels no one wants to see. Most of the time they make sequels because the origanal does so well in the box office. Now, obviously, not all sequels need to/should be made. I liked legally blone, but don't really plan on seeing the sequal when it comes out. Nor am I looking forward to Charlies Angels 2. But X2, I was geeked about, with a capital G. So some sequels are too much, (and there are too many this summer) but some are well worth it.
If you haven't seen X2, see it. It was damn good. |

Its not an expectation thing. But for the price, I expect stories that are more than just a continuation of something that made money. Mael: I have to say that most studios have lowered the bar when it comes to deciding which films should have a sequel. Dumb and Dumberer? Charlie's Angels? Explain why. Neither of these recent versions interest me.
The Matrix. Yeah, that wasn't a bad idea. And I suppose Finding Nemo would be neat, too. I guess I need to start esploring more foreign films and independent films. In the past, these have been quite a salvation to me. |

I'm just a whore for the theater. I honestly do not mind shelling out the cash just for the experience of the theater.
Yes, I am easily amused...but it makes life more fun. ![]()

I'm not interested in giving too much of my hard earned money to the box office. I'm lucky that I work in the entertainment business and I get to see lots of things for free.
As far as knowing if something is good, well there's the reviews, which are skewed to some degree, and then there is the box office take, which is also skewed because well just because everyone else is buying it... I'd recommend that you look at something like www.rottentomatoes.com and look at the movie from a 360degree perspective, all the reviews that the box office take.
