As Flyman Waits Patiently....
Thought I'd share just a bit of what he is waiting on:
After about 13 hours: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ysHD12hrs2.jpg When it's done, it will resemble this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../00flysHD1.jpg The yellow background is strictly a guide to let me see my mistakes. Not sure what I'll do as far as that goes..maybe the Canadian flag? |
jesus ng......that looks awsome so far.
damn that's good. many thanks ng.........love your work |
Holy moly.
That is one fine work in progress ngdawg. |
Very cool. Any follow-ups?
|
awesome ng, I give it 5 out of 5 Shesus Kissing Ono's.

damn that is awesome!
Just one question.....flyman wants a pink Harley Davidson softail? |
It's not pink...really. That's more reflection than anything(and how it just looks posted here).
|
NG... you don't have to defend flyman's taste... he likes a pink bike? That's his business...
He is flyman after all: http://www.siegelproductions.ca/images/flyman.jpg |

Even a pink Harley is a hell of a lot nicer than my no Harley. :( And besides...just think about pulling up to a biker bar, getting ready to go on a poker run, on a pink Harley. If your man enough to pull that off, ain't nobody ever gonna fuck with you. It's all win-win. Oh...nice work NG. All those good looks, a '49 Caddy, and talent to boot. Life just ain't fair. |

Had off so spend most of today on the wheel and cleaning parts up:
The valve stem cap is an 8-ball, which can't be seen except at 500% enlargement. Of course, I made sure it's an 8-ball in the drawing ;) |
wow. That really is great. Extremely realistic. Great job, Ng!

isn't it though      she's gooooooooooood |
I have to say that this is becoming an obsession. After two more days, for probably a total of 13 hours, I've gotten to this(doesn't look like much more, but if you can blow it up, you might see all the strokes of color. I increased the enlargement of the canvas to 1800-3600%, so I'm covering a couple hundred pixels at a time. I've also found that as I do a section, then correct it early on, I'm not wasting as much time. Funny part is, I have no idea what I'm working on at 1800%-then pull back to look and say, 'oh! it's a hose!'

very cool... you do excellent work
|
How are you making this drawing? What program etc...

I haven't decided on a final background yet, but have a few ideas in mind. The bike, when finished, will not be posted here until after Fly has it. |
The really cool thing about Illustrator is that the pencil size is not dependant on the area. In other words, I can go to that 3600% and fill in the finest of detail and not overfill or have difficulties seeing what I'm drawing. On the other hand, using the size picture as above, it'd be impossible to get detail at all-which is why I make it so large. Plus the color nuances are very fine, so something that may look white, even at 200%, shows up as 5 different colors at 3600% and I prefer taking the 5. It makes for a much longer process and, quite frankly, cost prohibitive if I wanted to sell it, but the results speak for themselves. Not to mention it's a great way to pass time and hone skills.

Flyman!! What hath thy wrought? I spend every spare minute on this thing!!!
I'm a woman posessed!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tire2-copy.jpg Not to mention I now notice and check out every HD that goes by! Yesterday I was at a stoplight next to a vintage HD-had to be from the early 50's and me without my camera :( I did give him the wolf whistle horn I have-not sure he heard it, although he did look at me. That thing was vibrating like mad! |

even though you are posessed.........you are still doin' a wickedly fine job on that bike ng. absolutely fucking awesome.     |
So I took a break for 3 days and went back at it tonight...

Just to give an idea what's happening with this. This is a close up of a portion:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...wg/closeup.jpg of this section of the bike: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g/closeup2.jpg |
Forgive me for asking, but what is your motivation to take so many hours to reproduce the same as the photo?

I took about a week off. The engine is a ballbuster(if I had'em). The hoses are all black, but have some highlights. It's amazing how many variations of black you get and when you pull back, there's depth. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...tire2copya.jpg
|
Oy!! Almost done with the engine!
