ive been messing around with this trying out a few different things and im not sure where i want to go with it. any suggestions?

yea im thinkin so idk i get bored and start doing random things in photoshop. idk im open for suggestions or criticism

You have the whole leonardo da vinci thing going on with your art. Google him and you'll get all sorts of ideas. Imagine mixing his work with the lines of code you have...see how interesting that would get? Stick with a renaissance theme and you'll slam it. Here is an example:

I like it just the way it is. With an image as huge as the one wax suggested it just becomes too much imo. I prefer a simple design and a large empty area where my files can be located.

Can I have a copy that I may use on my desktop?

aw of course you can use it as your desktop

i did this to it whichever you like better

I think a simple texture like parchment in the flat colured (or blank) area would be nice for a desktop.
