This is a watercolor painting I did about 6 or 7 years ago. For some reason the scanner discolored the legs and feet.

That's a cool bird, Vermin. Makes me think of an avant garde professor

This is a mother's day card I did a couple of years ago.

dobster 04-25-2005 07:20 PM

Kramus that is so lovely!!

What a cute picture. You've really captured the emotions of those birdies.

kramus 04-25-2005 07:36 PM

Thanks dobster :)

K-Wise 04-25-2005 07:44 PM

Oh I love the style in both pics. One thing I gotta love about this forum..so many different styles of artists coming together..in these posts especially. Great stuff guys.

Asta!!

GoldenOuroboros 04-26-2005 01:09 AM

Wow some great artwork already
Vermin, Love the abstract piece you have there! :)
Kramus, I can't say that I've seen your style before O_o but it's cool ^_^

Nancy 04-26-2005 03:51 AM

Kramus: That first one is adorable :D

Vermin: Glad to see another one here who's into water colors. Cool looking bird - did you come up with it yourself or is it a real species?

As for the discoloring; my scanner does the same thing sometimes. I'm afraid it's broken :|

I'll say! Isn't it the first time we've ever had 2 whole pages in a weekly activity??

K-Wise 04-26-2005 02:20 PM

^ Ahaha! I love it!

Asta!!

doodlebird 04-26-2005 03:07 PM

holy cow!
a pretty nice start to the week's activity.
kramus, i really like the mother's day card.
the curved line fills/shading are a nice touch.
vermin, thank you for digging up the past.
i've been thinking of geometrically shaped birds
since i recently stumbled on the artwork of tim biskup
http://www.timbiskup.com/artwork/paintings/

y seņor hamburguesa,
if it weren't for the necktie,
i'd say that's a striking self portrait.
no?

i'm off to the scanner to scan in this week's colored pencil contributions.

kramus 04-26-2005 03:16 PM

Thanks folks - that Mother's Day card was a fun one. Golden - being on the inside I really still am not sure what my style is - but it must exist because you aren't the first person to tell me about it ;) Giant Hamburger, is there a little pun or something behind the studious and well dressed culture vulture? I bet there is more to his story. Way cool tie.

He's a lawyer. I think I am going to add him holding a book.

ms. diety,
yours reminds me of a bird i did a few weeks ago.
i saw a girl with a robin tatooed on her forearm.
i later learned her name was robin,
but she inspired me to draw this quickie...

cellophanedeity 04-26-2005 09:44 PM

Kramus, your talent never ceases to amaze me. GiantHamburger, your posts are either hilarious or absolutely terrifying I will dream of evil chickens. You have poisoned my dreams! ;) Dobster, your shadow bird is lovely, not "poo" as you say. I like shadow birds! And Doodlebird, your drawings are absolutely adorable.

So much talent in this forum!

Edit: I also love the watercolour Vermin! I didn't forget you, I promise! :icare:

kramus 04-27-2005 01:42 AM

Giant Hamburger you crack me up. And doodle, your stuff is really fun too :). Cello, something exquisite is revealed in your bird - great stuff.

FngKestrel 04-27-2005 01:44 AM

I like this topic. :D

My old avatar is a kestrel's head, naturally.

Somewhere in a sketchbook I have another few bird drawings. I'll see if I can find them.

Next week: Mom

OK, I have never much cared for birds, but they do add a certain something to a landscape.
A certain je ne cest qua.
Poultry in motion, if you will.
Even if you won't.

So, therefore, here's "Sunset with Hawks"

Tophat665 04-27-2005 10:40 AM

Next Week:
Artistic puns.

GO, friend, this has been an awesome series of threads. Perhaps at some point you could recap the topics that have been done so far?

doodlebird 04-27-2005 05:53 PM

^groans. :)

i second the "mom" theme for next week.
(may 8 is mother's day in the US - is it elsewhere?)

Very old drawing I did with my mouse and an oekaki programme, but it's too funny not to post (at least, that's what I think).

Next week: moms (like everyone is saying).

I don't believe that chicken. This is further proof of GH's statement that birds are firmly ensconced in the camp of evil.

Nancy 04-27-2005 11:16 PM

Bloody good work everybody!!

Doodlebird: I think I like your birds best. They're so fat and adorable! :D Did you resize the birds or is the original drawing that big??

Would this be the story of the mythical birth and nurturing of Giant Hamburger?
