Jimi Hendrix

Yes, another one by me. This would be #3 and I'm working on #4. (After that, I'll draw some new people).

Good work EI555! You have got portrait drawing down. What do you do for a living? Do you sell your work, you could get a pretty good price for the pics you've posted here.

edit: I just checked out your homepage, so asking if you've sold work is a dumb question. It all looks very good.

darkangel 02-22-2005 11:14 AM

Hey thanks for clicking =D To answer your questions, I actually.. uhh don't do anything for a living right now. Just the art I suppose. I'm 19, and still live at home. "In Between" jobs, you know. Trying to get some commissions to keep myself alive :) Thank you for the comments.

Nice work. How do you do the broad, dark areas in pencil?

darkangel 02-22-2005 04:20 PM

I do a light shading over everything, and then press real real hard :) You should be able to see yourself in the black

K-Wise 02-22-2005 05:03 PM

Holy shit man. That doesn't even look like a drawing. Good job man! Oh and thanx about the avatar haha.

Indeed!
Very nice work ei555!

Usually one is able to see the pen lines in the dark colored areas, is that the case with your drawing? (I can't see because the resolution of your scanning isn't that high)

Have you ever thought about making a career out of your skill? It would be a shame if you didn't! :)

darkangel 02-22-2005 09:11 PM

K-Wise, Thank you, but I hope with "man" you mean wo"man" :)

Nancy, Thanks :) It's actually pencil, so no pen lines, but yes, scanned at a good resolution you can see outlines, but for the skin tone and black parts, it's all smooth. I would LOVE to make a career out of this, but regretfully, business is sort of slow right now..

So yer a girl! Awesome! Sorry for the confusion I'm stupid and assume everyone is a guy until I see a pic, "Last post" at Ladies Lounge", or until they say they're a girl which you just did and I'm an idiot  Sorry again GOOD GOOD drawing!

Edit: Shoulda checked your profile..eh..WOW..heh.

Asta!!

holy moses, ei555. i am blown away once again by your incredible talent.

it truly looks like an old photograph. amazing.

you should really consider seeking a scholarship to an art school.

do you also paint? or work in color of any sort?

clavus 02-23-2005 10:42 AM

WOW! Nice stuff. Really, really nice stuff. I bet GH will commission you to do a portrait of a large, meat paddy if you asked him.

bernadette 02-23-2005 11:00 AM

oh commission... great idea clavus!

ei555, would you consider drawing my <strike>children</strike> dogs?

Cervantes 02-23-2005 12:11 PM

I think I'm echoing the contet some of the other responses when I say Holy Macaroni. That's awesome!

darkangel 02-23-2005 01:55 PM

K-Wise: No problem, when I picked my name I didn't think I'd be posting a lot, so I kind of wish I made it more "girly" :P

Clavus: Thanks for the comment :) Who/what is/are GH? (Forgive my stupidity if it's really easy to guess...)

Bernadette: I actually did get a 'small' scholarship to an art school when I graduated high school, but after a year, the course I entered just wasn't for me. They frowned on drawing from photos, and obviousy that's what I do.. hehe I'm trying to get into oil painting, but there's really nothing worthy to show here, because I worked in graphite all of these years. I've also tried colored pencil and that was a more successful attempt. I need all the commissions I can get! I've never really done animals, but I would say yes I would most definately consider drawing your dogs :)

Thank you Cervantes :)

K-Wise 02-23-2005 05:24 PM

I clicked on the "Drawings" link last night. You're amazingly talented. I was blown away...Didn't see any David Gilmour Pictures though..Prince Either! Whats up with that? haha your work is brilliant.

Asta!!

darkangel 02-23-2005 06:59 PM

I'm just getting started with the website, so I started drawing who I like, Hendrix, Clapton etc. Upcoming drawings I'll do will probably appeal to another audience (actor/actresses) in hope of getting some sales - because that is the goal! :)

PS. Thanks for commenting on my journal - night people rock (if they're not strange) :D

K-Wise 02-23-2005 07:11 PM

Good luck with that! And don't mention it about the journal response! They most certainly do rock. I am a little weird though I mean..Just look at the avatar

Asta!!

mmm...kyle 02-23-2005 07:52 PM

just saying the same as everyone else here but that does look amazing, obviouslly being a fan of Jimi does help, but it is great.
Well done to you and your pencil :D
