Place Card

A friend of my family is turning 60 and I've offered his wife to make the place cards because as chairman for Norway's sport union she's a very busy person.

She's already approved of the layout so after all the printing and cutting it'll look like this:

A close up on the layout:

The cutting takes forever! I have to make a total of 67 and it takes me one hour just to cut 6 of these!! So I know what I'm gonna be doing all weekend :|

Thats a really nice design. You've got a subtle theme with the colours, but the snowflake is both complicated and delicate. You're real good Nancy! Good luck cutting.

I urm... well... I kinda... urm... Oh! Is that my bus?

:D

Nice work! Are you using an exacto knife? When I've done intricate cutting I found that to be the easiest and fastest tool. But with either a knife or scissors, it will be a long process. I guess I'm just saying, I envy the design but not the work.

bernadette 01-06-2005 12:42 PM

those are lovely, Nancy.

are you cutting them all by hand?
if so, hopefully you don't have too terribly many to make....

thriolith 01-06-2005 01:26 PM

Wow, I love the snowflakes. It looks so nice and clean.

Thanks Bern!!

And yes I have to cut all these by hand myself because I know noone who has such a steady hand as me. Like I said; I have to make a total of 67 so I'll be doing this all weekend

Gracias! :)

Yes I'm using an exacto knife because in my experience using a scissor takes forever!

The work really is hard but worth it :)

Allrighty! You're gonna have to wait for the layout as I have a very busy week ahead of me ...

Ella 01-08-2005 03:23 AM

Lovely stuff, Nancy!

Give your hand a massage with some warming cream afterwards.

thanks Ella and.. that's a great idea! Come to think of it I don't think I have some warming cream but I bet it'll help just as much if I put my hand in some hot water :)

 it feels like it but they're still there, phew!

Only 2 to go! I have to wait till tomorrow and print them out again because I made some fatal errors as I cut them out :| :p At least that'll give my hands a chance to recover

Desario 01-11-2005 05:11 AM

That's a very crisp, clear design. I like it a lot. Also, good job on the cutting. I know it takes a lot of patience and time to cut something like that. Anyways, keep up the good work, and good luck with that.

Nancy 01-11-2005 05:38 AM

thanks desario! No need for wishing me good luck with these since I am done! These babies are on their way to Norway as I type

Desario 01-11-2005 02:10 PM

Oh, in that case, cheers on a job well done.

Hard8s 01-11-2005 07:04 PM

Just hope no one screws up on lettering them, and then asks for a few more!?!
By the way they do look good. Nice Job!

Nancy 01-25-2005 02:46 AM

Update time!

Guess what people? yeah that's right. My place cards never made it to Norway in time for the party!!! Can you believe that!?

I spent all weekend making these fucking things because I had to have them done by monday so I could send them to my father via mail. He received them the day after and then he sent them to Norway (he insisted on shipping them abroad as the shipping price is very high) tuesday and they were suppose to arrive thursday only they never did. Either the Danish post office fucked up or the Norwegian one did but the matter of fact is that they showed up two fucking days ago! "Only" a week too late! I'm beyond angry right now..

At least she's decided to use them as "thank you cards" so all that work wasn't entirely wasted but still they were intended for the dinner table and I was so much looking forward to see the table decoration along with my place cards. *sigh*

Thus goes the life of the underapreciated artist!
Sorry to hear about that Nancy! But we all liked them, and the story that went with them. Look on the bright side, at least they are being used and your numb little hands didn't go numb for nothing.

skier 01-25-2005 10:16 PM

wow, that is so crummy. I hate it when my work is wasted one way or another, as i'm sure everyone does. :/ I'm sure the effort you went through to do these for them is still just as appreciated though.

Nancy 01-26-2005 12:27 AM

Thanks you guys! :icare:

I do feel better knowing that the cards will be used none the less but I'd still would've prefered them being used for what they were intended for. Oh well :)

uber1 01-27-2005 02:39 PM

I love it, great design.

bollocks 01-28-2005 03:15 AM

Tough luck Nancy... Gotta' love that design. Keep up the great work.
