Halloween Pumpkins '04
So one of the things I enjoy (and this year I actually have time to do it) is carve jack-o-lanterns. I use the Pumpkin Master's kit tools, but I draw my own designs. I realized that I'd never be able to carve all the designs I have planned in one day, so I started early. I realize this pumpkin will probably not last until Halloween night, but I couldn't wait. Here is a pic of my first one of the season, the shower scene from Psycho!
I promise this is a REAL picture of an actual carved pumpkin, not a Photosop creation. I did use PS to play with the contrast and color, but the carving is real. I'll post more as I carve them. <IMG SRC="http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/421556700/6.jpg" BORDER=0> </A> |
That's a pretty sweet looking jack-o-lantern. I wish I had enough creativity to design my own instead of downloading templates, lol.

that is amazing. the detail of that is just awesome. good job... cant wait to see more
|
You did a great job there, Coaster. Keep posting up your creations, I'd like to see more :)

Wow, that's insane O_O
Great Job :D |
that is some true talent. you must plan these for 11 months.

WICKED!
How long have been doing this? Oh and what's a jack-o-lanterns? :hmm: |

Awesome carving, I'm really impressed  ! I also like to (attempt) to make my own pumpkin designs every year. Here's a pattern I made last year if anyone would like to use it. Sorry it's so small, you just have to increase the size and print it! Oh yeah and if you can guess where I got the idea from you get a prize (well not really, but you can just imagine it). Just make sure you only cut out the white parts inside the big black circle (sorry if I insulted your intelligence ;) ). Enjoy!

As promised... here is another. "Mother's House" also from Psycho. I should have taken the pic sooner, some of the tetails were already drying out and fell apart.

And the rest...
Another Alfred Hitchcock theme, Vertigo... <IMG SRC="http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/421556700/11.jpg" BORDER=0> They're heeeeere.... <IMG SRC="http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/421556700/10.jpg" BORDER=0> My Precious... <IMG SRC="http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/421556700/9.jpg" BORDER=0> Liver, fava beans and a nice Chianti... <IMG SRC="http://www2.freepichosting.com/Images/421556700/8.jpg" BORDER=0> I had more designs, but that's all that I actually carved. |
Amazing job on the pumpkins :) like them alot!
|
The Bate's Motel is my fave. :D
|
Holy Schnikies! Those are some insane carving skills! I think the last time I tried carving a pumpkin I successfully carved a bucket.
|
Carol Anne's my favorite. :D
"Honey, walk into the light." Great job, Mister Coaster. :) |
Wow, those are awesome! :) I don't think I ever managed to carve more than the traditional smiley face into my pumpkins. :P
|

what problems did you encounter? When I was carving my pumpkins it started to cave in a bit, made it pretty difficult.
|
blitz.fenix: What kind of design were you doing? When I'm drawing out the designs I always have to remember that the dark shapes themselves must be anchored in some way. If you don't design enough inherent stability, you'll end up with a mess. The "Vertigo" one was very difficult to carve because the only anchors that the design had were the figure's right hand and left foot.
I will clean out the pumpkins, then immediately carve them. Also, I keep a water spray bottle handy and spray them down occasionally, especially after carving. That will help keep them from drying out. |
Holy fuck, I've never seen such sweet jack o' lanterns. Awesome job!
|
ahh shoulda taken a picture of mine..i went all out merlin..truly amazing pumpkins..lol mine couldnt compete
|
Undead hero of Warcraft 3.. the lich. :)
|
Try coating all the cut surfaces of the pumpkin with vasoline, lightly.
I found that the pumpkin would last longer. |
I just thought I'd bump this. I was curious about the actual carvings, and this deserves some attention
I'm quite impressed! |
