Artwork inspired by my writing.

Little known fact about me, but I am writing a sci-fi series. It's still a long ways off from completion, but despite that, it has caused great images to form in my head that sometimes I feel I need to see before I can describe them in words. So despite the fact that my ability to draw is lousy, I have attempted to draw out the images in my head.

This is the first of the drawings. It is the council chambers for the ruling council of an alien government. What I have here is the raw drawing scanned in. I'm also running it through PSP 9 to clean it up and colorize it.

In the future I hope to give other drawings depicting people, landscapes, and events from the storyline. But first I'll need to figure out how to draw that stuff.

Very nice. Good sensitive use of shading. Don't forget to post the colourised version.

Have you origins for the 'foreign' language used here?

mirevolver 10-17-2004 01:39 AM

The writing is from a language I devised and am still expanding, specifically for these books.

That chair in the back was giving me a headache, but finally managed to colorize that area. Another image of the colorization process thusfar.

Looking good so far. If you want to get away from the "drawn" look, add some shading to accent the line depths. Uniform lighting seldom exists, so create some shadows ect as you flesh this room out.

Rock on and keep it up!

Wow, I really like this so far! I would hardly call your drawing 'lousy', give yourself more credit than that. :)

I agree with the dOOt about the shading, I think it would help bring the room to life better.

Still colorizing the other image.

But here's a new sketch. The people could use a little work, but people are always my weakpoint in drawing.

I call this one, "Journy to a Dead Civilization."

What kind of a room is it? It looks like some kind of other world governmental room. Who's the leader?

The room is a council chamber for the ruling council of an alien government. The leader would be the person who would sit in the big chair at the end.

Gotcha. It looks just like that, too. Very nice work. :)
