Past Rogue works
Believe it or not, I was an artist
before I got into Physics or computers. I lost interest in being a profession, when my college teachers tried to pigeon-hole me into different styles instead of letting mine develop, I don't mind different techniques, but each artist's style is their own. This is few pieces of my work through the years from around 15 yo to 30 yo. Much of my work was destroyed in my moves over the years, or I've given it to friends because I just enjoy sharing. These are some that I still have, and for some reason have stuck in my memories. The first is a simple pencil drawing, done in '84 (probably 16 yo) I called it the Sword of the Winter Wizard Unfortunately, I couldn't get the whole drawing on my scanner. But I hope you like. |

This one was about when I started getting into science as well,
I was reading about the start of the Universe. So I decided to do an abstract of the energies involved and some of the visualizations I had of the Beginning. No real detail, I wanted it raw feeling. This was done in Acrylic, probably around 19 yo, so that would be in '87 |

This one was done for art class,
this is one of the ones I did when we were studying monocrome works. I wanted one kind of moody, but yet at the same time showing the "world through rose colored glasses". I don't know if I like what I did with the tree are the ground underneath, but I do like the texture of the mountains and the sky, with the details of the birds in the distance. This was probably also around 19, so about '87 In Acrylic. |

This one was at the end of my art major time period,
I didn't finish this one, as you can tell. But I like the details that were starting to develop. The assignment was to take a section of a masterpiece, and duplicate it as close as possible. I like this scene because of the bold & diverse colors, and the action, an attack in an ancient Middle East town. I like the way the horse & man in the distance was starting to come out, and the detail I was able to get from the fallen man, and that's when I got tired of it all. Done again in Acrylic, around when I was 20, so in '88 The next year I switched to Physics, and soon after that moved across the continent to San Diego. |

I didn't do that much in the coming years,
I had lost my interest, and energy. Other things took priority...work, school, Martial Arts, partying... I did get inspired every once in awhile, but I tended to give those away. This one was the last one I did 5 years ago, when I was 30. It's of one of my past loves. She is the only one I ever drew. What a sweet lady, I wish it could have been diferent. It was done on the spur of the moment in colored pencils. I like the detail and the shading and lighting, the texture of the hair, and the attention to her jewerly and glasses. I hope you like it Last edited by rogue49; 05-16-2003 at 01:06 PM.. |

i loved the 2nd, 3rd and 4th last paintings that you did... especially the world through rose tinted glasses. i thought that one in particular was very beautiful =)
to put the whole 1st picture up. maybe take a photo and scan that, or scan 4 quarters of the paper, and reassemble it using something like Gimp, Paint shop Pro or Photoshop. You should keep painting acrylics rogue, you have some serious talent. =) |

The painterly qualities here are, for me, the most revelatory.
The freedom and passion of the brushwork and the overall loose expressionism are outstandingly apparent The first time i saw these, rogue, I was taken aback - by pleasant surprise... I had to add this right-brain exhibition to your very left-brain persentation, which I encountered most recently. A whole new you to explore! That's about the best thing there is about art... thanks for the reminder, bro!

rogue -- I like the way you allowed us to witness your progression. The first drawing is somewhat simplistic with the last drawing showing us how you matured as an artist. You've got a talent -- don't let it fade away.... With the hustle and bustle I know you call life right now -- drawing may be a good outlet of some of that stress you may be experiencing.
