I did this doodle five minutes ago, and I thought it looks kinda like a brain. I dunno; it can be anything. It's all dots, by the way.

Just little dots huh? That must've been pretty time consuming making this one!

It would seem so, but it was done on an index card with a normal-size Sharpie permanent marker, so it only took me like 10-15 minutes max.

What exactly is a shoggoth? After doing a GIS for shoggoth, I still can't tell exactly what it is. Does it have something to do with Cthulu or whatever? I have no idea what all that stuff is.

A shoggoth is sort of like a giant ameoba, sort of like "The Thing". They were the metamorphic servitors of the elder ones before they rebelled, and are the chief peril in "At the Mountains of Madness". So, yes, it has to do with Cthulhu, or, more accurately, whatever.

Just for shits and giggles, their stats are as follows:
Frequency: Very Rare
No. Appearing: 1-4
Armor Class: 1
Move: 9
Hit Dice: 20
% in Lair: 90%
Treasure Type: C
No. of Attacks: 2
Damage/Attack: 3-30/3-30

No no, a lot of H. P. Lovecraft's work was lifted into the very first edition of A D&D: Deities and Demigods, and subsequently removed. Shoggoths are in the novella At the Mountains of Madness, a pretty decent read, Lovecraft's homage to Poe through The Tale of Arthur Gordon Pym. Shoggoths actually make the same sounds as the birds in AGP.

Sort of formless, yet not so much ameobic as a amalgam of interchangeable, but squidgy parts. Also, that pic gives you an idea of the scale of the thing.
