are these concept ideas for a class project?
or real life advertising graphic design concepts? when you figure out just what it is you want us to tell you, then hit up yayhooray for some serious (& sadly some not so serious) real hardcore hold back no punches critique/advice. it might sting a bit, but overall you'll probably walk away with some solid suggestions. what is your screenname on YH, btw? i don't sign in there very often anymore, but my sn on yay is kat.

this is a portfolio assignment for school, we were given a preselected company out of a phone book and were to design logos, and meet with the teacher (client) about them...the ones i did a long time ago were black and white, and for portfolio i need to have a 1 color, 2 color, cmyk, and one of whatever i want....i believe my name on yayhooray is ruinedbydesign

The first and the last are the best. The other ones really don't remind one of a café do they?

First, café has to have the little ´ over the e.
Second, nice logos. I think the first one is a little too basic, that kind of croissant you would see on a ferry or a train station. The font os good though. The second is too exclusive for a deli, but it would work really well with an expensive restaurant. I like the two last ones, the first of the two would work well if the café was situated in a fitness centre or something, and the last one is just plain cool and really stylish. It's the colour of a good latte. |

hey GW!
Great improvements.. I see you added the croissant to the first one.. still like that last one though, is it up to the 'client' to decide which one they like best? So you state your ideas and they pick which one they want? heh.. either way cool

they liked them all, favorites were the first one (which i changed the color of the type: garducci=midtone brown and deli and cafe=a differnt light blue), and the last one...so they're all going into portfolio

it does all depend on the type of cafe it is, if it is a gourmet place or just a little small coffee shop. but, the bottom right one is the strongest.. the only thing that bothers me is the curved left edge. i thing that it is nice to have the rounded corners, but the rounded left edge makes it look really weird. it makes it look less intentional and less clean of a design.

The last one is definitely the best one. It does look a bit like a logo you might design for a franchise or a brand for a range of coffee shops. I do sympathise though. I can remember doing things like this at school, and until you have a proper brief from someone in the real world, it-s really impossible to come to a real conclusion about the quality and suitability of a design to do a job. I speak as one who's don e loads of corporate identities since - in the real world. Well done though. Keep on keeping on...
