Logo

Making logos is my absolute favorite assignment (except for making drawings)! I made this today for a woman who is about to start her own publishing house... I wonder if she'll like it? :hmm:

I like it. It is simple and clean.

Redlemon 03-25-2004 10:47 AM

Nice. Especially the way the book isn't completely inked in.

I'd hire you for a logo if I had a business, or a band.

gallopingwanker 03-25-2004 11:32 AM

not too bad :)

bernadette 03-25-2004 11:43 AM

i didn't really recognize the artwork was a book until i read "publishing house"...

are you in love with that particular font?
what font is that?
your kerning could use some adjustments.

is DAATER her name? or is it an acronym?

Nancy 03-25-2004 12:58 PM

Charlatan: yeah I like it best when it's simple! :D

Bernadette: I always find a font that fits the specific company or the logo. In this case it's ITC Souvenir and I think it really matches the logo. Daater is her last name - it's a cool and rare name for a Dane to have ... what about my kerning? what did you have in mind?

Hehe thanks redlemon - I'd be more than happy to create something similar for you if you ever need it, regarless what i may be ;)

the space between the D & the first A just looks a bit large to me... or the rest is a bit too tight.
i'm no expert, so take my suggestions with a large grain of salt :D

Nancy 03-25-2004 11:45 PM

oooohhh I see. My dictionary said "kern = the overhanging of a letter" but what does that mean?! anyway I got it now and you're right; I am gonna space it out later on but for now she was just interested in the logo.

I got a mail from her today and she loves my particular stile, YAY! :D So soon it'll be published on her website and on her own books..it's gonna be weird to see my work on another persons stuff :D

Congratulations, Ms. Nancy! that's awesome news for you.

Booray 03-28-2004 05:28 PM

Nice! I like it

apeman 03-30-2004 04:30 AM

yes, congratulations! it's simple but great!

The only negative from my perspective is that the "book" takes up considerably more space than the company name and seems to overwhelm it a bit. The name should have more presence, IMO. Overall I like it though. Good job.

hu-man 04-07-2004 12:42 AM

Wow, cool and simplistic. Me likes.

SecretMethod70 04-07-2004 03:12 AM

Definitely like that logo - nice and simple :)

I think an additional line or two might be helpful in making the book more recognizable though - I too had to look twice to realize what it was.

like I said it's for a Publishing House and it will only appear on the books that the company releases. So it should therefore be pretty easy for the costumers to figure out what it is...

Besides there's the "KISS" rule - Keep It Simple Stupid: when you're making a logo it's important that it is as simple as possible. After that you make it even more simple.

it doesn't matter if people don't realize it instantly. That gives them something to think about which makes them remember it
