playing with photoshop brushes
this was made solely with some brushes i found the other day.
<img src="http://photobucket.com/albums/1003/m0us33/ac8f9d9d.jpg"> i think i'm gonna wind up a PS brush junkie :) so much fun! |
you mean to say that that started out as a blank file?????
damn, can I get some images from you for the next project I do? |
here's another one that i started with a pic of my dog when he was a puppy. i don't like this one as much, but it was also fun to make & play with the newly found brushes.

was the dog one done with all brushes or did you use the text tool for the bottom right?
either way.... wow |
numist, yes, it began as a blank canvas.
i found the brushes from this website: http://bluevertigo.com.ar/bluevertigo.htm scroll all the way to the right for a cornucopia of brush links :) |
the dog one began with the photo.
duplicate the layer. images > adjustments > threshold then color range. select the white pixels & delete those. then i just layered on a bunch of the brushes. and yeah the bottom right was text i'd added previously. |
you could always make your own brushes :D
I've been dabbling with that.. so far I've made myself a cool snowflake and heart brush with a nifty preset for each  |
Bernadette,
BlueVertigo looks like an awesome site. Thanks for that. I'll need to spend quite a while perusing. Thanks a bunch! |
damn, i think wanker would say that you are coping on his style.
|
So that's where I saw it.. lol :D
|
thats sweet man
|
I like your work very much, bernadette.
Thanks. |
very nice. I'm just starting to work with brushes more...

gallopingwanker posted a thread with much the same style as your first brushwork. I recognized it as well.
Either way, you are a wizard with PS and Pain, bernadette, my hats off to ya. |
yeah, wanker uses a brush that is probably the same one. the whole general aesthetic is pretty similar actually.
|
ah. ok. yeah gallopingwanker. gotcha.
there's a lot of very similar brushes out there. it's funny tho, i am just now trying out any brushes other than the standard ones that come with PS. so, i tried to imitate that dirty grundge style before using fonts! haha i laugh at myself. nah. i'm no wizard. (yet *wink* haha) thanks tho : ) there's a lot more i need to learn to use in photoshop yet. that is one powerful application. |
brushes are pretty cool, but the best way to work with them and not be seen as imitating someone else is to make your own. it is pretty easy, and they work pretty awesome to apply dirty texture and make a font treatment look like it is actually in the picture. i made a lot of brushes with rust, tape, and dirt. if you need advice on how to make them, i'd happily help out.
|
wow that looks great!
i think i will attemt some brushing! |

That is some great work. That first one just blew me away. I didn't know you could do such neat things with brushes.
|
Thats awesome... I'm gonna need to play around more, heh. Thanks for the motivation.
|
brushes are fun!
they can make things look cool and dazzle everyone with very little effort. |
great job. love the first one.
