I haven't posted any of my artwork in AGES so i thought I better finish some off, you'd prolly be suprised at the amount of 'projects' I've got and haven't finished what so ever.. it's kinda sad... so I thought I better get into and finish some this week. No jedi acadamy for me (seeing that's what taking up most of my time)

Alright all criticism is welcome :D

Uh, what was a picture of a little girl doing on the TFP. Haha ;)

sorry golden.. wasn't too constructive there. i think a lot of the different shades of the iris seem to be lacking. the blue almost seems solid, and it looks really odd. i don't know if the picture had it, but part of the pupil seems to be missing, and since the blue is so rich, it looks like the iris is eating it away or something. i think her left eye, our right, looks alot better than the left one. but since that one is rather hidden, most of the attention is drawn the other. the color might be too rich, a lower opacity might work nicer? i dont really get the eye work stuff..i'm assuming the point is to make the eye an unnatural color, but still make it convincing?

GoldenOuroboros 10-22-2003 05:31 AM

Yeah, make it different but convincing.. I'm just tooling with photoshop and seeing what I can do.. I want to be able to do good pics with it... but just seem to give up cause it starts gettin hard.. Like I read some of the comments on the pro websites around (my fav is gfxartist.com) and they've got these pics that they've done in like 2-3 hours.. I'm like.. what the??? that'd take me a week or two at least! Perhaps I just don't understand the concept yet.. meh.. I'll just keep plodding along :)

i think that it is just taking the time to know the program a little bit better. a lot of people, when they start using photoshop, get enchanted with using the filters because it can radically change an image into something interesting with just a few mouse clicks. it looks really generic tho to the trained eye who knows what the filters do and can spot them instantly. it drives me crazy when i see someone just throw a few filters on something and say look what i did. anyone can really do that. do you have any examples from those websites that you can link to? i'd like to see what you mean and what you find good. if i know of any tips on what they do, i'd gladly help out in anyway.

gfxartist

There's a url for you... have a browse around... I love most of the artwork done there by those in the community..

analinguist 10-22-2003 07:09 PM

wow the stuff on there is pretty tight. it looks like a lot of the people did really nice hand drawn work and just colored it in using photoshop brushes. i'm assuming that i'm not really telling you much that you don't already know. the best advice to give you if you are into that is to keep drawing.. their hand drawn stuff really makes it what it is.. at least the ones that i saw. honestly, coloring in stuff in photoshop is not as hard as you think. i've seen a lot of people make shit look super awesome and only use a few brushes and like 4 or so layers to shade and fill in nice drawings with color.

wow that is impressive
