An Artists Medium
Sure, it's fun to play around with different media, but what medium do you prefer? Acrylic? Oil? Watercolor? Film? Cigarette boxes & soda-pop cans?
Is it particularly suited to your subject matter? Do you enjoy its texture/luster/other properties? Maybe you prefer working out a subject in many different media Or the challenge that comes with mastering it? When did you realize it was the one for you? Do you have any tricks you'd like to share when working with your medium ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watercolor Throwing in ink, charcoal, pencil, wax, salt, ethanol alongside the pigments. But watercolor is the lifeblood. I enjoy working in oil and chalk pastel, but my heart works best in watercolor. Is it particularly suited to your subject matter? Botany has a rich history of watercolor illustrations. I prefer taking my work out of the standard by moving into abstraction and emotive works which highlight the essence of plant subjects. Do you enjoy its texture/luster/other properties? Watercolor's transparent nature, and the quick nature of the work draw me to working with it. Each piece can represent an expression or emotion felt and captured in moments.
