Airbrush - step by step
1) Find some silly damn thing in a your sketch book
![]() 2) Draw it again. Run a knife along all the black lines. Glue the whole mess to a shirt without losing any of the pieces. This is called a mask ![]() 3) Lift one piece of the mask off the shirt. Paint the exposed area. And replace the piece. ![]() 4) Repeat for every piece, every color. So if your mask has ten pieces, and you are using four colors, you need to repeat this process 40 times. ![]() ![]() ![]() 5)Remove the outside of the mask. Keep the design covered. ![]() 6) Paint your background. In this case, an amorphous blob of blue mist. ![]() 7) Done! ![]() 8) This technique can come in handy when your kid wants a shirt with something unusual on it... like "Mewtwo guarding a pig." ![]()

Very Very Coool... lots of artistically inclined folks here who make this look so easy - I would have to spend a couple years getting a sketch WORTH putting on a shirt!

It seems so straight-forward. And very cool. Thanks, Clavus.

Thanks, all. I think there were 46 pieces to this dragon. So you can see why a lot of its parts only have two colors of paint on them. The 19 scales on his belly are three colors. So his belly is actually 57 little paint jobs.

That's an interesting technique and the results look really good.
Have you considered making 3 or 4 photocopies of your drawing (1 for each color) and just cutting out the areas you want to paint for each color on each copy. In other words just make a separate stencil for each color so you only have to lift and spray once for each color? Just a thought.
