new to earth

1 Attachment(s)
greetings, all.

i know i've been absent. and like that annoying jackass who calls himself your friend, i only come back when i need something.

this little dude is kinda cute, but i don't feel like he's 100% cute. he'll hopefully someday grow up to be a graphic for newborns' onesies.

and i'm not sold on the wording either. my intial thought was "welcome to earth" but i changed it to what you see here.

criticism, constructive or otherwise, is greatly appreciated.

El Pollo 02-22-2006 11:17 PM

I love it!
My initial thought was that this was to be a t-shirt for wierdos, but I like the baby idea better. The look of the alien is great, but if you're going for cute, maybe claw-hands aren't the way to go.

onodrim 02-22-2006 11:40 PM

Well I know that if I saw this in the store, I would be very tempted to buy it for my niece or nephew! Very cute and original design, I think that the "I'm new on earth" wording is better. /me wishes she could really buy one of these :p

la petite moi 02-23-2006 12:05 AM

Like El Pollo said, you should make the hands just little stumpies, instead of claws. The wording is good, but personally, I like "Welcome to Earth" better. However, your wording makes more sense for a baby.

Plummie 02-23-2006 12:54 AM

I love it! If I had a baby, I would definitely buy it for them. "I'm New on Earth" is perfect!

The_Jazz 02-23-2006 05:56 AM

I have a newborn, and we'd definitely put him in this!

Giant Hamburger 02-23-2006 02:47 PM

Make his shirt a onesie!

cellophanedeity 02-23-2006 08:39 PM

Such a cute idea!

I like the "claw hands" as everyone is calling them. I didn't see them as claws at all.

Would it be "I'm new on Earth" or "I'm new to Earth?" I think it's "to"

superiorrain 02-27-2006 04:23 AM

Where can i buy it? i want an adult version, i feel that i'm new to earth to.

Charlatan 02-27-2006 07:17 AM

Adult sized onesies for everyone!

I agree that it should be "to" Earth.

I'd like to see the softer hands as a comparison but would say that I like the hands the way they are.

doodlebird 02-27-2006 09:29 PM

thanks to all for the input.

i'll give a go to another set of hands,
and see how it looks if i put him in a onesie.

and yes, i can put it on adult tees,
but noooo, i will not be a part of any adult onesie business.
:)

...although i do remember something about adult footie pjs going around this site.

ok, here is an edited version.
the one that gets produced might be a combo of these two.

thanks again to all who offered help.
what do you think of it this time around?

onodrim 02-28-2006 09:52 PM

The onesie looks great, I'd keep that for sure (assuming this is going to made into an actual onesie). However, I never had a problem with the "claw" hands before and I like them better than the current version personally. *shrug*

Or you could try it in those pj's that encase the whole body and feet amd zip up, lol, i'm forgetting the name of those, but they are so cute.

but yes indeed, change what the little guy is wearing and it would be perfect.

ALSO:

have you thought of the wording "New Earthling" or something with "Earthling" in it... lotsa sci. fi. folks like me would get a kick outta wording like that.

However, i love "new to earth" very cute :) i'd buy it for my neice/nephew

and come back more often :) we missed you :)

Nice doodle, doodle.

I thought the first effort looked more ant than an alien. The new hands have changed my opinion but the thumb-like-thing on the right hand bothers me a little.

Plummie 03-01-2006 03:12 AM

I like the new design better! You are really creative. :)

Charlatan 03-01-2006 07:32 AM

I agree... the right hand thumb looks more like a dew claw on the forearm.

I like the onesie though and agree that he is much less "ant-like" now.

Lucifer 03-01-2006 07:48 AM

I wasn't that wild about the claw hands but I find them much less creepy than the current version

Halx 03-01-2006 10:28 AM

Ya.. current version hands are very creepy. Very cute idea though.. the shirt is still awkward though. That's just nitpicking though, I can see this as being really successful. Then you can make different poses with different captions. Sorta like that bunny that everyone seems to wear.

cellophanedeity 03-02-2006 08:25 AM

*goobles*

Aww... whoozah cuute widdle awien? aww.... :D

I love it.

clavus 03-02-2006 08:14 PM

Well, I freakin' like it. And I like the lobster-boy hands. If you MUST change them, just stick a middle digit in there. But I wouldn't change it at all.
