I just couldn't resist putting down the image with all that lovely early morning light.

I love the lighting on this... excellent work Lewis!
|
Man, the shading is great. Excellent sense of volume.

Absolutely sensational! Your use of color and line reminds me of one of my former painting professors. He was always instructing us to let our hand show, and to "push" the color, representing colors realistically without using the obvious. I see a lot of that in this piece.
I also really like the juxtoposition of texture and the real sense of emotion and movement. The range of values really makes this extra impressive. |
Wow! Thanks for all the wonderful responses!
My wife is always telling me to simply 'paint my passion'. She and it are one and the same thing. It looks as if it may be a good idea to continue with this idea..... :D |
Continue away! Great work. Love the colours and lighting. Oh, and subject of course.
|
Love the shadows, great figure drawing :)
|
OMG! This is AMAZING! What medium did you use? I am just in awe!
|
I'm very impressed with this piece. Have you ever had your work exhibited or is there an online gallery where we might see more work?
|
Lewis, you should do nothing other than art. You are too talented not to.
I can't think of any way for you to improve this piece. It's perfect. |
Brilliant painting, Lewis! Is it the missus? :D

But she's my favourite subject. This is a pastel I did of her a while ago. |

I dunno. I must be doing something wrong.... |
^^ Yeah I remember that one. It's one of my favourites :)
Why did you put on a different head?? |
Well, happy as she is that I paint her, she feels that too many pictures of her face limit the appeal somehow. Personally, I like seeing her face everywhere!
|
Do you have a website where you are selling your work?

I typically don't like paintings of people. I'm weird that way I guess, but I've just never been a fan. Give me a landscape or abstract piece instead. However, this is beautiful. The color and the shadows. I love the way the paint swirls around her. The lighting effects are very good. I'm sure you could make some money with your talent and if you can, you'll be one of the lucky people that gets paid for doing things he loves.

But you're right. You've got to do what you love. It's taken me a long time to figure that one out, and this woman has been the driving force behind that change of mind. Once you do what you love, the other things you need follow. |
Lewis... your site has expired.

Well, I just went in and it's OK. I know they are planning to do some stuff on the server over the next few days, so maybe that's it. |
i love the way you pay attention to the ribs. They're much more important than breasts in drawing. It's the other way round in real life though. ;)

Personally, I pay attention to all the bits in real life! |
