the pill and "spotting"
is there usually something that can trigger this side-effect? or is it because i only started taking the pill 4 months ago?
i thought maybe it had something to do with missing a day.. any information would be great!

there are tons of threads about this, but yeah, if you miss a day, you're most likely going to spot. DONT MISS!!!! you have to keep taking the pill at the same time everyday, otherwise you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

I'm on such a low dose that if I miss taking it at night and remember the next morning, not even 12 hours late, I will begin spotting. Also stress, lack of sleep, illness, anything that drags you down physically can affect your own hormone levels and cause some spotting. If you spot for more than 2 weeks (in my opinion) you should call your Dr. Some people do better with one formula of hormones than they do on another. Good Luck.
Do a search and you will find a number of threads on this subject.

okay, thanks.
ill be honest, i have been pretty lazy with taking the pill. but i feel like i have no reason to anymore. i took the initiative myself to go on the pill before sex had ever really come up in my current relationship. for me, that took alot of courage.. and even moreso to confess to my bf that i had done so. i thought he'd be positive about it, but completely shot me down. he wont have sex because im a virgin... and is set on the fact he'll break my heart in the end. i think what hurt the most was that this wasnt a factor with none of his ex's because they werent virgins. i just felt really sub-par and insignificant.. and i think it's kind of stayed with me as far as sex is concerned. hence the reason i never worry about taking it the same time every day... its just a reminder.

If you don't think you'll be having sex, you aren't using the pill to deflect one or two periods every 3 months, and you don't want to take the pill - Don't. If you end up having sex you can always make him wear a condom. If he's not thrilled about you taking the pill then it's his responsibility to wear the raincoat. It irritates me that he managed to make you feel negatively about this subject when you were trying to be responsible and take the worry off his shoulders. Good Luck girl.

I keep my pills by my bed and that way I remember to take them. However, I have been on the pill for almost 10 years now, so it has become a habit.
When I first started I would pick a time of a tv show I always watched and know that when it started I'd take my pill. That helped. If you don't watch TV, but you get up at the same time every morning, you can take when you brush your teeth or something. I take my pill around the same time everyday, but not an exact time. I have even forgotten sometimes and I have never gotten pregnant. Good luck!
