Nipple Piercings
i searched for nipple piercings and nothing was found, so if this has been posted, SORRY! I am really thinking about getting both my nipples pierced. So my question is does it hurt very bad, do they have a high risk of infection, are they hard to keep clean? I guess that i need to know everthing so if you have had it done, or dont and know somebody that does, do you like them is there anything specific that i need to know before doing this? Just any thoughts on this or comments would be appericated! Thanks gals!!!

I have both of mine done.....I suggest you get them done one at a time, if you have an active sex life. The healing time is 3 months (approx) and they cant be sucked on...so if you DO have an active sexlife and get them both done at the same time you will be able to have no boob sucking.
Yes it hurts, but its not unbearable and it only hurts for a few seconds. I HIGHLY recommend not letting them put in a hoop, but use a barbell...those hoops get stuck on everything and they will be tender for WEEKS. If you wear lacy bras I recommend you stop until its healed...nothing worse than the balls on the ends (of hoops or barbells) getting stuck when you take it off. I had no problem keeping it clean, I recommend just buying a clear antibacterial soap (the pump kind) and keeping it in your shower.....regular soaps will burn for a little while. My nipples were super sensitive before...to the point that them being messed with bordered on hurting....since I've had them pierced its like there is a direct line from them to my "you know where" and it feels great I think I covered most of it, if I didnt and you want to know something else just ask!!

I'm going to suggest doing it all at once ... because once you know how one feels, you may just need to gettheontheronedoneassoonaspossiblebecauseOH!that'squiteanintensesensation ...
dunno, maybe i'm just a pussy ... but i'm glad i got em both done at the same time. I had hoops, and didn't get caught on anything really...but barbells can look better i think? i'd also in the long run suggest investing in jewelry you really like ... I took my rings out a few months ago because my nips were sore/cracked, and just not healing ... and i was SO sick of the jewelry i had but couldn't afford anything else at the time... (had ~5 years of total problem-free tho before that). soap - hibiclens. (if you're as clean of a freak as I am..otherwise 'normal' (cheaper) antibac soap is fine. follow your aftercare instructs

I do not regret doing it. I don't think I ever will... Take care of them with Bactine (alcohol will dry them out which increases risk of infection) and be sure to always move your rings (or barbells - however, any well-trained piercer will advise against bars because of lack of rotation) and clean them every few hours. Also, when you shower, do your best not to submerse them (in running water, bath water or pool water - NO swimming) for the first 1-2 weeks. This is best to continue until you can move the rings without pain. Also, keep all hands off (wash your hands before/after you clean them) for at least the first two weeks; Keep mouths off for the first 4 weeks (1 month). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I have 3 piercings in each earlobe, one in my (upper ear) left cartilage, one in my tongue, both nipples and my belly button. How about you? Do you have anything else pierced or is this your first piercing??

Amnesia, thanks for the great post. No i dont have any other piercings besides my earlobes and I got that done when i was 10. everyone says that it hurts really bad to get the nipples done and i have a low pain tolerance, but i think that nipple rings look so good i would be willing to go through the pain.

I have a secret piercing fetish but I am too much of a chicken to go and actually get it done. I hear that nipple piercing could be really painful, it's also good go get them both done at the same time. You have to clean it frequently, and so on. I'm sure everyone else has already covered all of that. :-p Good luck.

When I had my nipples pierced, I found it hurt a lot less than I thought it would. It was more like someone pinched me really hard (which is exactly what happens) and it was gone almost immediately.
I was incredibly sensitive for a few days afterward(Oh, how I wish I had stayed that sensitive!!). To the point where even my bra was....erm.....distracting. I also suggest getting them both done at once, but for a different reason. I had my done about six months apart. When I went back for the second one, my original piercer had moved. The new was just as professional, but he didn't line the piercings up exactly right. Now, my left 'hole' sits slightly forward. It's not a big deal, and I'm the only one who can really tell, but you know.... I guess I'm just anal like that. So, for purely symmetrical reasons, I'd go with both at once. They're really not hard to take care of. Follow the after care instructions that your piercer will give you- religiously. And here's something that might come in handy: don't let your father give you a big bear hug the day after you get them done. Ow!! I reccomend getting hoops to start with, as they will turn easier, and you need to almost constantly turn them, anyway. Also, if you're like me, your nipples will be slightly swollen for a little while, and if you want barbells that fit snugly against the nipple, you'll need to wait. I think that's everything I have to add. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good Luck!

I just love how we all are different on our opinions
I had the bra distractions too....I was pierced 3 times, my first one migrated out so my left nipple was done twice, so I've had both hoop and barbell to start out with...the barbell "crusties" hurt FAR less than the hoop ones...and the barbells were much more comfortable to turn. keep in mind I only said get them done one at a time if you have a active sex life where nipple play is a big part so they are not both excluded at the same time did anyone elses piercer tell them that no seminal fluid could contact the nipples?

me too jonsgirl....but how long did you wait? Did you wait for the recommended amount of time before anyone's "spit" got on them? I didnt with my first one and it never really healed right and then my nipple developed a hole...I could actually see the hoop in the middle of my nipple.....the next two times I got it done I most definately waited.

I just got mine peirced in December. It hurt really badly, as I also have a low pain tolerence. Both mine were done at the same time. I didn't have any problem keeping them clean. I would recommend asking your peircer to tell you which kind of soap to use (mine was this stuff designed for peircings calle Satine) and get it from them if possible. Keep them clean!! I didn't clean my belly button as much as I should have when I got that one done and it took nearly twice as long to heal as most. Sleeping with a bra on really helped me alot. Other than that, take an Aleve or something before you go. It helps.

I had mine left one done exactly a year ago, my bf at the time thought one was sexy and two were freaky, and the piercer didn't want to do both at the same time anyways. I had a relatively bad experience (pain wise), it hurt when it was done and then felt like it was burning for an hour afterwards, however i'm at the point now where I don't remember how bad it actually was and want to get another piercing, somewhere else though. The major problem I had was sleeping as I usually sleep on my stomach and was advised not to when the piercing was fresh, and it hurt the few times I rolled over accidentally.
I didn't have any problem with infections, but I'm anal about cleanliness and I just treated like a puncture wound. I still have the same barbell that she put in after piercing it, it is a bit long but was easy to turn, and has yet to get caught on anything, its great to play with, I'm glad I got it done, now I just need to decide what I'm going to get done this year. Yeah, and go-figure, I normally sleep on my side or my back, but you can be sure that once I had both of them done, OH how I had the subconscious urge to sleep on my stomach...that was a bit rough...luckily it only lasted a few days...

Gods, I want my nipples done again! My left one has been done twice, and has migrated both damn times. I want to do both nipples this time, and maybe the third time will be the charm. We'll see.

Do a lot of them "migrate"? It sounds like a lot of them do.

I feel ya....when I lost my first one I was so pissed....That was my first piercing and it wasnt done by the person thats done all my peircings and tats since....when I had it redone he told me they hadnt done it far enuff back and it was doomed to migrate. He did both the ones I have now and I had NO problems with it at all.

That's what happened with the first one... it wasn't pierced far enough back. It was free, my tattoo artist back then was learning how to pierce and wanted to practice. I think my second one migrated because I changed the jewelry too soon. The guy who pierced it the second time insisted on using a ring... I didn't really have an initial preference, but I wanted to wear a barbell in it once it healed. I think changing it to a barbell and half shield too soon helped push it out... I'm game to try it one more time. You'd think I was some kind of pain slut, lol, but I'm really just stubborn and refuse to let something I want this badly beat me. *grins*
