how do you define 'kinky'??
 

I was having this discussion with someone today and it got really heated and interesting . . . How do we define 'kinky' in our sexual behavior? In our society, there isn't really a set standard . . . Each person seems to have their own way of defining . . .

To some, kinky is having the lights on while having sex . . .
To others . . . kinky is bondage and having open relationships . . . etc.

So, the Q is ladies . . . What is something that you do that YOU personally consider "kinky"???

I would say that once you cross over to things like BDSM, role playing, etc. then you're in the 'kinky' range - things that aren't necessarily done by a majority of people. Simple things like the use of sex toys, or anal sex, or anything like that I wouldn't consider kinky at all. I guess it just varies from person to person.

To me a kinky person is someone who has no sexual boundries.

I think everyone has sexual boundries. Some of those boundries are just broader than others ;)


How would I define kinky? I wouldn't. Every time I've thought about it (which hasn't been often really) I come up with different definitions. So why bother with defining it?

Serious answer: Kinky is a strange, seemingly out of place behavior or "turn on" that is not conventionally sexual, yet sexualized by a "kinky" person.

For me kinky would be defined as something out of the social "norm" of sex. Being a Catholic school girl, that would mean anything besides missionary! Haha. No, I would consider something being kinky if it had to do with bondage, cosplay, or s&m. Kinky can be good or bad. I guess it's just up to the individual to decide.

Everyone has a boundary/boundaries.... some are just so far out there that they haven't found them yet. Case in point: There's a woman out there who makes porn videos whose speciality is animals.... She'll give an animal fellatio, and bend over and take animal dick. She also makes videos about dares... She develops elaborate scenarios and accepts dares.... from being kidnapped and gang banged to being staked out naked on a bed of fire ants. Her greatest wish? To film a snuff film. Seriously.

And yet.... She doesn't do girl/girl sex. You'd think that would be nothing compared to her "normal" sex life, but there it is. She finds girl/girl sex to be beyond her boundaries.

"Kinky" is such a subjective word.... I'm active in the BDSM community myself, and I find that my definition of "kinky" changes every time I experience a new kind of play. We're forever asking each other "What is your Kink?" Mine, for example, is sensation play. I don't care for pain, which is what most people think when they hear BDSM, or slaves and Masters (or Mistresses). But I actually crave extreme sensation. Ice and heat. Sharp and soft. I've even experienced a deprivation tank, just for the sake of discovering the "anti" sensation.

Does that make me kinky? I personally don't think so, no more so than I think that the girl I know who loves nipple torture is kinky. I have things I like that are possibly outside the norm, and those things might be considered kinky, but I don't think that makes me kinky. Just like everyone has boundaries, everyone has things that arouse them that maybe doesn't arouse other people the same way. That doesn't make them kinky, either. It just means they are open enough about their sexuality to explore outside the "norm".

Possibly the only thing I think might make someone "kinky" is the person who doesn't explore their sexual needs and who represses the things that make them a sexual individual. Repression simply isn't natural in sex, and anyone who does it shuts off the best, most amazing part of themselves. And to me, that's pretty kinky.

in my mind kinky is anything that an individual feels is naughty or forbidden but likes and gets turned on by and keeps on doing :)

I don't know the exact definition of "kinky" but to me when I dress up, or we tie each other up, stuff like that, I feel like we're being a little kinky.
