I have just started to do this in my spare time. Does anyone else do this and if so where do you get your supplies? Do you get your stuff from QVC? I know they have a lot of great things but I have never ordered anything from them I would love to though. Give me some ideas?

I've never done any scrapbooking, because I'm really don't have an exciting a life to scrapbook...

I do make a lot of greeting cards,which is my creative outlet... I've seen stuff on QCV and think it's a little pricey. But it's probably a good starting point and gives you everything you need in one spot.

I will go to Michaels or other craft stores and check out the scrapbooking section, for doodads and other stuff like that to put on cards... I can get really carried away, and spend a forutne on stuff.

There's a catalog that I absolutely love Flax Art has a paper catalog that has all sorts of neat papers and stuff...

Michael's has good supplies, as do AC Moore and Current. If you live near one of their stores, Archiver's is a fabulous place.

At least where I am, there TONS of smaller craft stores that cater to scrapbooking. Creative Memories is also a company that specializes in scrapbook materials at tips. I don't have a webpage link or contact page for them, but one of my friends is one of their consultants, and she really likes the group.

I love to scrapbook. I think I've been doing it for about a year now. I never had a craft store near me so I would just go to the craft section in Walmart and they seemed to have an ok supply. Now I live in an area that has a Michaels store and I think I'll be going there a lot more when I take some new pictures.

I've never scrapbooked. At least not anything beyond a big scrapbook I kept in Elementary school of my accomplishments.

I have thought about trying it out. My biggest reason for not doing it, well my 2 biggest reasons - 1. TIME - I'm already struggling just to get laundry done and when I have free time I'd rather sit and read quietly usually. 2. MONEY - I see the costs for things at the stores and to get started I imagine could be pretty expensive.

I have recently noticed that the Dollar Tree near me has a lot of scrapbook stuff. Pages, stickers, sticky frames, confetti, albums even. If I were to start I'd probably start out there so that my initial investment wouldn't be too great if I found I couldn't stick with it.

Also I've not seen any good scrapbooks done with all the stuff they've got out there. I've seen the sample stuff on craft channels or commercials but I've not seen any that REAL person created with their time and rescources. Can it look that good? I wouldn't want it all that busy. What does a regular person usually end up with? A bunch of pieces of stuff and photos? or something that people really do want to look at?? I imagine it could be something fun to do with my daughter. She's starting to get old enough to do some stuff like that. Maybe I could make it a project that she creates and let it be hers. Maybe I should go ahead and try it.

Also ask around at work. Some people have scrap booking parties where the hostess sells supplies so as you work you can just purchase things as you need them. Plus you get to share ideas with the other scrapbookers.

I just happened to notice the dollar tree by my house had some scrapbooking supplies the other day. It's probably hit and miss but for that price worth checking out.

We don't have a Michael's here in Quincy. I went to the Michaels web site and they have cool ideas techiques and tips it was a really good site and there is also one in Springfield and that is where my husband is going to school right now so that is cool. We only have a Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart. But I have also found some stuff at Dollar General, Big Lots and Dollar Tree. I have also gotten some stuff off of ebay. Has anyone heard of leaving prints??

How expensive are they? I heard they are quite expensive? Can you have parties with them like a tupperware party of sorts?

I started doing it because my sister does it and I have two boxes of photos i have no books for them so I figured I should just scrapbook them. It doesn't take much time and my kids love helping me. I am not much of a craftly person like my sister but I think mine has turned out really cute.

Scrapbooks look cool. But I havent made one yet because I'm too afraid to cut up any pictures. I have doubles of some pictures I took in 2003. I saw a lot of scrapbook item's at Target, they looked cool, Target has a area just for that.

the closest thing I have to a scrapbook is my sketchbook journal. I paste random shit I think is cool on there. Magazine ads, package designs, etc. it's for "inspiration" it's kind of dumb but they're making me do it for school.

For my graduation present, I got a scrapbook kit, but then realized when I started to lay everything out that I didn't have enough pages to put in the book. So I hit up Target. They had tons of paper and little accessories. Mine turned out really cool. If you want to, it's not that hard to find places that sell supplies. Or you can just get card stock and some cool sissors and stickers and use a normal photo album. One thing I did was used pictures I found in magazines to enhance mine. If you don't want to do a big project, then I suggest the card stock route.

I went to Big Lots last weekend and they had some stuff I was really suprised and it was really cheap. I wish I had a way of showing you guys some of the stuff I have done. It was really easy. But I can only do about 2 pages at a time and then I need a break.

There is so much stuff out there to use in scrapbooking, I would never know where to start. It would be great if those of you who have completed projects could post some pics of the pages. Provide some inspiration for the rest of us.

I have scrap booked since 1996. I've made albums for my twins upon high school graduation. Now I'm working on mine and Lebell's wedding, honeymoon album. I also have one for my other three kids anda family album. I can never keep up with it -- but I love it. I like quality paper and scrap books! So, I shop Close to My Heart. You can find them online. They are a "home party" thing -- but worth the quality. PM me if you'd like more information.

You can also get some good scrap booking stuff at Jo Anns. If you check your local paper for their ad you can usually get a 40-50% off coupon (at least you can around here). Also, check the website because there are usually coupons on their or at least free shipping.

just started getting into this, i didn't think i'd enjoy it but it's actually pretty cool. i get supplies wherever i find them. ebay is my prime source for stamps (these can get really expensive in stores!) and dies for my sizzix machine (makes the little cut-out shapes). for paper i tend to hit one of the locally owned shops, they stock quality stuff and i like being able to feel it and see the colors before i buy. embellishments, scissors, pens, inks, etc. i pick up anywhere--craft stores, discount stores (big lots, dollar general, etc), ebay, pretty much wherever i see something i like.

it can get expensive if you get into it and want the toys, but it doesn't have to be. i'd suggest a book on it that you love (should have lots of examples. i'm a HUGE fan of clean & simple scrapbooking by cathy zielske. very much my style with general how-to instructions you can customize. some of her pages had me in tears they were so lovely). or getting a handful of mags to get some ideas.

invest in a few pages of designer paper that you love (this is the patterned paper you use for accents), some adhesive (i like mono myself), a good set of scissors and then test the waters. you can get all sorts of "better" stuff than what you have, but if you are just trying it out and don't want to start with an entire book, use standard computer paper and construction paper to try out a page or two. make copies of some photos so you don't ruin any you love and just have fun with it.

another option is to find a local scrapbook store that offers classes (most in my area do). for anywhere from $10-20 they'll walk you through creating a page and supply all your materials. it's a bit pricey to try doing a book this way, but if you just want to try it--minimal investment with lots of help and instruction.

you really can create pages that look amazing without spending a fortune or devoting all your free time to it. it's nicer than a photo album because you can add journal entries and other "stuff" that brings the moment you are trying to capture back. for me, it's like taking a moment of your life and recreating it so that others can see it the way you do. picking out papers that have colors and textures to set a "mood," a great photo that captured the moment or emotion, a few choice words (or a long journal entry) that express your feelings...it's a whole new way for me to be creative.

The scrapbooking kits that are at Walmart or wherever seem to have more than enough supplies to get started. The favorite scrapbooking thing I have are those scissors that cut out different patterns, they're great for photots and paper.

I think the best part about scrapbooking is getting together with someone and spending an afternoon getting pages done. That way you can trade around supplies and get some new inspiration. If you don't know anyone who scrapbooks all I've had to do is show someone the ones I've done and then they want to do their own.
