UTI
I looked up to see if I could find anything on this... so if I missed it then just point me in that direction
I heard about using Sea Salt baths or something with Sea Salt for when you get a UTI... is that true.. at least first hand and all. Thanks |

Well, once you have an UTI, there's not much you can do. Antibiotics (usually a 3-5 day treatment with Septra), and drinking lots more water than you normally do are the only things that can really help you get over it faster.
Sea Salts in your bath will help to relax you, and thus help with the pain, however. Cranberries, blueberries, and cat's claw (the plant, not the kitty) taken regularly can help to prevent UTIs. The best thing, however, is to drink enough water everyday to help keep your kidneys, bladder, etc. flushed out and healthy. I hope this helps some

Funny enough, there's a thread here about UTIs that you started
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=53586 If you're having recurrent UTIs, you might want to go to your GYN or a urologist - could be that you're knocking them down but not out, or that there's an underlying condition that's making then crop up frequently. Or, like me, you could just be prone to them. Drink lots of water, pee frequently (and pee before and after sex), and cut back on caffeine. You can also get over the counter cranberry supplements - I've used Cranactin and CranAid. They're concentrated cranberry extract, and they keep me from getting UTIs - I take them when I'm travelling, which is when I most often get infections (holding it on planes, rushing to get to my connecting flight instead of stopping to pee, sitting through meetings for hours, unable to leave because I'm taking notes). Good luck!

I also was just told by someone researching on the web that spermicides can increase your chances of getting UTI's. I'd been fine for a while until we started using condoms with spermicide on them.

Damn... thanks a lot. Because I was thinking that was the reason. That was pretty much when I would get them. And then the one time that I didn't use ones with spermicide it didn't come back much. Thanks a lot.
I know I started that thread But I didn't ask about sea salt. And I know a couple people who use it but I just wanted other people's opinions besides theirs. Thanks a lot! |
