Earnings

I keep losing just one earing in a set. I guess they go where the socks go. Anyone got any creative uses for the other lonely earing I still have? For some reason I save them.

I'm so not Martha Stewart -- nor am I crafty but...- -

Depending on the earring, I've seen some really cute "collagey" type pins-- where someone just takes a bunch of single stone type earrings, and glues them together.

You can use them as decorations, put them on a lampshade.

Get together with other friends that have single earrings and have a party -- and maybe they'll be some earring matches?

Maybe use them instead of pins or a bulletin board? Or you could hang a bunch of them on your curtains. Or see if any of your guy friends with one pierced ear wants them.

I also suffer from the one earring problem. In the past I've always just thrown the lonely one away, but I like the bulletin board idea SparklingDot.

Title fixed from earnings to earrings. No worries RainbowBright, we all make typos, and now anti fishtick won't be confused anymore.

Wow these are some creative solutions. I don't wear earrings so I don't ever have this problem. But I'll be sure to tell my friends what they can do with theirs.

I'm baaaaack!

Knowing me, if I had my earlobes pierced, I would just wear two different earrings.

I have used them as pins in a corkboard, and it really works out! Also, I used to pierce my male stuffed animals when I was younger. Since I don't have my earlobes pierced, I am really not sure where I am getting all of these earrings.

a couple of christmases ago i made felt covered bulletin boards for friends and i made my own stick pins to match out of jewelry i snagged at the thrift store, took apart and supergueled to a regular thumb tack. the ones i have at home is a western theme, black felt trimmed with black ribbon with 3 stars that i cut out of a red bandana then roughly sewed on *by hand) with white embroidery thread. the pins were part of a silver bracelet with little horses carved on them. it's really cute and relatively easy!

I worked in jewlery forever, there are screw backs for earrings which are exactly what they sound like and there are also La Puset(spelling is wrong, french, sorry) also called locking back, earring backs which you squeeze then when you let go they lock on. These are not cheap though, so only get if they are important or expensive. Good luck, also another thing I have found that works is those little white cylinders for earrings. They are real tight and you can't see them. I don't know where you can get those, maybe a craft store.

You can get lever backs but these are for dangle only earrings

As a kid I used to use my Mom's old earrings and stuff to make cards. Sometimes I'd just pin it to the paper and other times I'd take the pieces apart and glue them on stuff. I also used them to decorate presents. Pinning them to the center of the ribbons and stuff. I also used a couple in my friends hair once. Kindof stuck them in her bun and put the end on the other side. Then fluffed the hair over the end. It was a fancy updo for a special occaision. I have also repaired some of my old cheap jewelry with old stones or peices from earrings. The little rings that hold dangles on or the if I lost a stone I could pick one out of an old earring if I had the same size and glue it on. Dunno I get pretty creative with stuff. I've been known to use pencil shavings in collages. Weird, yeah maybe but I don't care.

You can put them on necklaces, too. Some times that looks even better than as the earrings. I've given the single one (esp. it it's a single diamond or gemstone) to guys I know who have a pierced ear.
