Inflamatory Breast Cancer (IBC)

A friend of mine at work sent me a link to this news broadcast sbout inflamatory breast cancer. I had never heard of it before and thought the ladies of tfp needed to be informed as well. Some may already know about this but everyone could benefiet from watching the video.
Also maybe the ladies could share any information or stories they may have about breast cancer in general. As much as women are supposedly informed about it, I think the best knowledge comes from those with life experiences.

Thanks to everyone in advance for taking the time to watch and share.

I have never even heard of IBC before even with the amount of women in my family that were diagnosed with breast cancer. Its scary to think that as powerful as IBC is there is hardly any mention about it by the public and by physicians.

Below is a website that is dedicated to IBC.

My mom recently had a breast reduction and they found cancer in some of the tissue that was taken out. Thanks for sharing the link. We're just beginning to deal with the issue.

Excellent video. Thank you for sharing!
I am glad to see someone working to inform people of this type of breast cancer.

My mother has inflamatory breast cancer.

When Mother went into the doctor's office, the nurse practitioner that met with her told her the thin layer of "orangepeel-like" texture under her skin was nothing to worry about. When Mother mentioned pain, the nurse said, "You're just making that up. No one feels pain like that unless it's terminal." Mother insisted that she see the doctor. The nurse gave her a hard time. She waited three hours in the office that day for an opportunity to speak with her physician. Her doctor knew it immediately when she showed him. This form of cancer is not rare, just rarely found. She had an MRI and biopsy that day, and they began chemo treatments within a week. The nurse apologized for her unprofessional behavior.

This was in April. She is still undergoing treatments, and she is responding well. Several rounds of chemo and a mastectomy later, she is out of extreme, immediate danger. It spread to her lymph nodes in late June, which gave everyone a scare. She still has another round of chemo and radiation treatments ahead of her.

I lost someone I knew to this recently. She had always had her mammograms and her most recent one before the diagnosis had turned up negative. It spread to her lymph nodes, found its way to her brain. One morning she just did not wake up. It was pretty sad, she was not all that old either.
