Happy Mother's Day!!!
Happy Mother's Day, TFP ladies!
I do hope that all those mothers out there enjoy a solid day of rest, or are otherwise spoiled on this special day. Do you have any particularly memorable mother's day stories to share? If you're not a mom, what memorable things have you done for your mother, grandmother, or motherly figures? Does anyone out there despise this pseudo-holiday? Feel free to share your opinions on this day! ---------------- Since I'm not a mom, I don't have anything special. Tt did make me breakfast this morning and convinced me to sleep in. I used to make Mum breakfast with Daddy on Mother's Day, then do a few more chores than usual. Nothing too substantial, but Mom likes it that way.

My oldest daughter had to work today, but she called and she is taking me out to dinner tomorrow.
One of daughters brought me a new orchid...awwww. I love it when my girls pay attention. And my youngest brought me a bunch of stuff she had made at school. Little bouquet of flowers made of paper, a card and little decorated banner. As for me, I called my mom and we talked on the phone for a while about politics and stuff. Just a normal day, lol.

I made cards and cookies for the ladies here at the barn from their "children" (the horses). Signed them with horseshoe stamps and everything.
I sent my mother a gift card to a spa down the street from where she works so she can get a couple of manicures or something. She likes having her nails done and I'm not very good at it (and now I'm almost 500 miles away), so I thought she would like it.

This day is full of joy and full of sorrow as any other.
I rejoice with those rejoicing, I grieve with those who have lost a mother, never knew one, or had strained relations with one. To those of us that have not borne children, there are many other things we have given birth to. Nurture is nature. Happy Mother's day everyone. Last edited by ring; 05-11-2008 at 02:23 PM.. |

I sent my mother a card and gave her a call. I miss having her close enough where I could go home on Mother's Day weekend and cook her breakfast. It was my tradition. I liked to cook elaborate, experimental breakfasts for my mom. She was always very encouraging about it, even if it didn't turn out well, because she saw it as a learning opportunity, and I did uncover some great recipes.
I'm so glad my parents will be relocating closer to me within the next couple of years, and they'll be down for visits in June and July. As it was, I had to spend it with my SO's mother (and he was busy with yardwork the entire time), and that is not necessarily my idea of a good time.
