Is it necessary to shave your thighs?
I don't have much hair on my thighs, so a lot of the time I'll just shave my lower legs and that's it. My body hair is blonde/translucent and you can barely see it. Also, what's your view on shaving arms?

I used to do that. I had quite light hair on my thigh area and not much of it. So I'd get rid of the lower leg hair and leave the rest.
Then I had a childish boyfriend who decided to tell me, playfully, that he didn't like it. He was looking at my legs and then he took out his lighter and in jest passed it over my fine hairs on my thighs. I of course shooed him off and he laughed. I think he thought he was very clever. Of course, I was only 17. Soon enough, I got rid of those hairs. Nowadays, I wish I'd left them there. I still don't have much, but they're not as fine as before. And once you start, you just can't see them there - you just get obsessed - I guess it's a self-confidence thing. But I have friends who still have them and I think it looks cute. It's only a fine wispiness over the leg and I think it's kind of sexy...just because it's a more natural kind of beauty.

Heh, I have NEVER shaved my thighs... maybe once if I was going to lay on a beach all day or something, but it seemed like a waste of time to me. I have dark brown hair, so it probably is noticeable... but it's still quite fine and I don't care. And I would never shave my arms, no way. Very dark brown hair there, but whatever. I like it the way it is.
Hell, I've practically stopped shaving my lower legs and armpits, other than a couple of times a month. I just don't care anymore, unless I am going to be blatantly exposing my flesh to the world (shorts, swimsuit, etc), which I rarely do in Iceland. (Too cold!) My husband is totally fine with whatever I choose, which is nice. I suppose if I could get all my hair removed, that would be the best thing, because I just hate shaving and how much time it takes, etc... I guess I just never saw any benefit to doing it, personally. Each to her own.

I haven't shaved my thighs in three or four months and I still can't detect any hair, and I have/will never shave my arms.
Yay for being naturally blonde! I would definitely shave my thighs/arms if they were really hairy, though, especially if it was darker hair.

I think some people should shave their thighs...if they're getting curlys...like this girl sitting next to me at a football game.
I personally shave mine on occasion. Not often. Last edited by surferlove007; 11-11-2007 at 08:52 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I shave my thighs. Every bit of skin on my leg that could possibly be revealed by a swimsuit gets touched by the razor. It's a matter of personal preference.
I don't shave my arms, though, that would just be weird. I shave my pits every day, but I don't shave my bush. I got tired of shaving it and dealing with the ingrowns, so now I just keep the bikini line trimmed and let the rest grow.

I shave my thighs. In fact, I'm in the process of getting laser hair removal on my legs. I hope to do my arms soon as well. I guess I should add that I'm dark haired. If yours is light and soft, I say don't worry about shaving it.

I'm echoing Juley on this one - if it's not clearly visible I wouldn't worry. My problem is I am so pale even after shaving you can see the hairs through my skin - the bane of having a white complexion and almost black hair!

I wonder how many guys are reading this thread, thinking "hmmm...let's see who shaves what."
I shave calves and underarms. Not thighs. Never did seem to get more than a few fine, light colored ones there. Shaved my light colored, fine forarm hair once, and I regret it. It grew back in almost black. But this is Oregon, where we wear sweatshirts 360 days a year, so I just leave the arms alone now.

A note: if you want to get rid of hair somewhere on your body but don't want it to grow back in black--wax!
I get these pre-coated waxing strips from Veet. They work like a charm. I wax my lower back (okay, okay, I confess, my SO waxes my lower back, and he's very good at it too) every couple of months, and over time, the hair has grown in finer and finer--not thicker and coarser, as it would have done had I shaved. I also wax my upper lip with smaller strips, and wax in between my eyebrows from time to time to make the daily plucking of eyebrows easier.

I shave my thighs in the summer. The hair doesn't grow back dark at all, i just don't like seeing that whispiness in the light. Only hair that started out dark grows in dark...at least on me. I shave everything but the forearms. The hair on my arms is pretty light.

oh ladies, i doubt any of you are as hairy as me...it's so bad that sometimes or rather for me, most times, i don't shave for weeks on end
i wore a skirt to church the other day and my sister made this statement "oh wow!!! you had your annual shave" now back to the topic...when i do shave, it also depends on the clothes i'm wearing. if like on sunday i wore a mid calf skirt, then i'd only shave the bottom part of my leg. if, however, i go to the beach, cos i never wear shorts on any other day, i'll shave my whole leg. will never shave my arms because like i said, i'm very hairy and it will most definately grow out thicker and wilder than anything else.

Very rarely do I shave my thighs. Usually if I know I'll be in a swim suit, but that's about it. I never wear skirts above the knee so I shave to just above the knee. I've never shaved my arms. Thought about it a few times, but my arm hair is light enought it doesn't bother me often. There was a guy who shaved his arms when I was in high school. I never got why, since he was a blond. Meh.

Being blonde does have it's bonuses. You cannot see the fine blonde hairs on my arms OR my thighs much at all. Only once in a while if I notice the hairs or especially if I've got plans to use any self tanner, then I will shave the hairs on my legs. I've never shaved the hairs on my arms though I pluck 3 hairs that seem to grow as black and course as pubic hair from a small scar on my left arm.

I have dark body hair and have never even considered shaving my arms. What for?
I shave my thighs if I'm going swimming. I don't wear short enough shorts to really see much of my thighs, so above mentioned body hair isn't an issue.

i have always shaved every other day on a pretty regular basis since i was 12... Like onesnowyowl kinda said, every bit of skin on my legs... bathing suit revealing or not... gets the razor. I can't stand the prickly feeling!! Also... pits and lovelies... ha... gotta keep those smooth as well or i start itching and scratching and that's just not attractive. But i know plenty of ladies who just do the knee down and think I'm crazy for going up my entire leg practically to my ass cheek, especially in the winter. Meh.. whatever floats your boat.

No, I only really shave my legs regularly during the summer anyways...
Shaving my arms? You mean, my forearms? Oh no! I would never do that. I have medium brown hair but I don't really care. I'm not shaving my arms. I regularly shave my armpits and I keep my pubic hair always trimmed, if not a landing strip type of deal. |

I shaved my thighs when I was 16, and very self-conscious. Over the years I've found that most guys and girls really don't care about such things.
I don't shave my thighs anymore. The hair on my thighs tends to be light and soft anyway. In general, I have found that I tend to notice/obsess about details on my body that no other person will notice. Here's proof: What did your best friend wear yesterday? The day before? What did you wear?? |

I shave pretty much everywhere for two reasons:
1) I hate body hair! 2) I swear my dad is Sasquatch, which makes me Sasquatch's daughter. (well maybe its not that bad but its black!) I don't shave my legs everyday but I do try to shave on a regular basis, the hair is so thick it hurts when I wear socks. LOL

I live in Florida, and therefore, I live in shorts. I shave my legs year round, since shorts are not seasonal attire in this God-awful heat and humidity.
Thighs..definitely. Forearms? Not on your life. The hair there is very fine, very light, and not very noticeable, so there really is no need. |
