Okay, so I've reached over 250 posts, and it's allowed me to upload an avatar.
Problem is, instead of showing up in my posts, all that shows is a link saying ophelia783's avatar.
I've done a search of both the forums and of the FAQ, and haven't found anything that applied.
Help!

Are you sure your avatar fits the defined paramaters....

I think they are:
100X100 pixels
less than 100K
Gif or jpg format

Yup, its 1.87 KB, 100x57 pixels, and in jpeg format....

Jpeg or Jpg?

If you hit the paramaters, then there is probably a database issue. PM one of the mods, I know there have been some weird events afoot lately.

Also, for future reference this kind of post would probably better suited for the 'Support' forum.

Aren't they the same thing?

for what it's worth, I just looked up the properties on your avatar. it shows that you're at 128 x 30 pixels with a gif image.

K, I changed it to gif, and it's now 4. something KB, and 100X52 pixels....

Okay, it's looking like an issue whenever anyone tries to upload an avatar. We're working on fixing it now. Once it's ready, we'll let you know in this thread.

That's pretty funny cellophanedeity.

250 posts or more and you have to join the cult. Don't worry, initiation doesn't hurt... much.

There's a FAQ somewhere that explains it all. You get mod approval if you're not a drooling idiot (and they'll even make exceptions for the drooling part.. or they did in my case, anyway) and then after 250 posts you get a lil picture to call your own. Then you can change it every three days to confuse the hell out of everyone.

I'm fully aware of all of that, Martian, and as I've already explained, I'm reached that level. It seems to be a system glitch, which I'm sure will be sorted out quickly by the wonderful people in charge :).

The avatars should be working again. If you tried uploading before and ended up with "username's avatar" in place of your avatar, try uploading it again and it should work now.

That's right, and at 500 you get a backrub.
