TFPers Management Strategies
I've been here a little while now and I find myself posting all around the boards. My question here is how does everybody keep up with everything? I know there are subscription options and the new posts but what I'm chasing is your different strategies.
What do you find is the best/most efficient way of keeping up around the boards?

When you view a thread, the little icons to the left of the thread topic change. For my settings, it's a circle and envelopes. I primarily go by those to see which threads I've read/replied to.

The first thing in the morning is that I go to Advanced Search, and type my username into the Search By User Name box. That lists all the threads with new postings, but only the ones I've posted to so far.
After that, I just hit the New Posts and plunge on through; there's often interesting threads in subfora that I wouldn't ordinarily visit (such as Weapons).

I use view new posts, I pass thru the different forums, and I actively dig through the older forums.

Hey guys, thanks for your tips and tricks! Keep them coming
I wonder if sometimes I spend too much time going round the boards in an anal and unproductive way... but it's sounding as if many of you are doing exactly what I do Except for you MrSelfDestruct! I'm happy to leave that bit up to you! Redlemon, I hadn't thought of that approach, I will definately give it a go! Thankyou.

I'm personally pretty random about the whole thing. I just click on things that catch my interest at the time, be they forums or threads or whatnot and reply when I feel I can add something to the discussion. It's almost zen.
Okay, not it's not. I just like that word. |

I have a bookmark in my browser (I luv Firefox) that links to the forum page, not the home page. I'll just check out the home page every now and again to stay abreast of updates and what-not.
I've recently started using the New Posts link at the top of the page to look for new stuff, but apart from that, it's a case of whatever catches my eye. I'm still coming to terms with the whole active bookmarks/rss feeds thing though. |

I too, use the 'new posts' flag mostly. But it is always great to just go exploring.
I was in Tilted Portraits last night reading a thread about Charlatan and his travels around the world and the pictures from his camera phone. I too have a Treo 600 and, for me, looking back on the photos is like a journal. I give him credit for finding the time to download and post these for the rest of to live vicariously on. Also it is interesting how many responses you have received from 'senior' members here in the Newbies Forum. Enjoy.

I usually remember the ones that I'm really interested in, and then just skip around the different forums for whatever suits my mood. Sometimes I'll look at what posts I've made to see if an older post has any comments made after it. I guess I really don't have a management strategy.

I dont really have a stratergy as such. I just view the topic and see if I am interested in it, read away and then post if I want to. Some of the time I just read and dont post at all. weird huh ! usually if there is a concerned topic that I want to keep an eye on, i usually remember....if I cant then I do a search on all the topics I have posted on and it usually jogs my memory.

i subscribe to threads that are really entertaining (eg: vs threads in Artwork) and i also use the New Post search when i don't feel like clicking through all the forums individually...
but normally i just pick a forum i feel like exploring, and go through the threads right from the beginning and click on any title that sounds interesting.

I am such a newbie, I've just been reading the subjects on the right side, all the way down, to see what catches my eye. I didn't even think to look for the 'new posts' button!
I did find the 'subscribe' button, which helps a lot. I usually subscribe to threads I've posted to. But basically I enjoy just wandering around like a kid in a candy shop |

I tend to use the user CP a lot when it comes to threads I've posted to. Otherwise I just browse the forums I'm interested in.

I basically just log in and check a few forums that particularly interest me.. sometimes I will venture into others to see what is going on, or may use the new posts feature, but that is rare..
generally you will find my posts limited to about 4 different forums.
