A New Voice of Un-Reason

Hi everyone,

A co-worker of mine, whose screen name I don't know off the top of my head spends a lot of time on this forum and told me it was a place I could chat a low-flame rate. Sounded like a good day to me.

I've been looking for something like that for a long time, I harken back to the long-ago days of the Deep Thoughts chat. Now we're talking 15 years ago in the strange and wild BBS days, but in the beginning it was a popular chat that encouraged Deep Thought (imagine). Of course, it eventually moved to the new-fangled web and went completely to pot. As soon as people realized they could tell others to F-Off without reprise, it was all over.

A few years later, I found a Religion and Philiosophy room on Lycos and for a while things were good. Not unexpectedly it turned into a cyber-sex parlour. I suppose people wanted to commune with God in a new way.

So, every few years I wander into a new board and hope that it won't blow up. I used to use a more imflammitory screen name (kingofallcanadians) which people tended to think was an ego thing. In fact, it was a name I used when I called in to Howard Stern's show (he being the self-proclaimed King of All Media), but inevitably people would think that I was referring to myself as the greatest Canadian, and television told me last year that The Greatest Canadian was Tommy Douglas...so that's that.

Anyhow...hope this is a good experience. Looking forward to it. I hope to waste hours of paid company time in here.

welcome....

Midwife! GAH! I don't even want to be in the room. I wanna be pacing back and forth in the waiting room with cigars in my pocket to hand out...

Have a friend in Iceland who is the village midwife, when I met her she had just delivered the village's 1,000th child.

Hi there. I've been a member for longer than I have any idea, and I posted a few things a couple years ago, but I changed computers, lost the address, forgot, etc. I rediscovered this place earlier in the week, much to my enjoyment.

I'm 35, a wholesale insurance broker (think big, tough corporate insurance), married with a kid due any day now, and more stress than I know what to do with.

That's me in a nutshell. I'm glad to be back.

That's awesome. Delivery Girl, I look forward to your insight on the board I have a keen interest in midwifery and other non-medical birthing options.

Welcome to the TFP

P.S. I suppose I should read around more but does one have to earn an avatar around here?

Yes, a music lover indeed. I would much prefer to listen to music than watch television. 2005 was the year of the concert for me, took in many good shows and for 2006 I will kick it off with INXS

just remember the powers that be don't look at number of posts as much as they look at *quality* of the posts. Just because you have 250 doesn't mean you'll get anywhere if you're posts are all fluff. Just something to consider and remember.

Have fun and enjoy

Hey all. My friend paddyjoe said there was some fun to be had here, so I thought I'd check it out for myself. From the lurking I've been doing, it looks like he may be telling the truth.

Also, he told me to be on the lookout for someone named flyman. Weird name, should I be frightened?
