I was told there was a place, a place devoid of such juvenile things as flame wars, a place where people's opinions were respected, not shouted down in a hail of "OMG n00b FAG!!!!111". While having had only the briefest of glimpses of the contents, I can see I have found this place.
... Wow ... that was poetic ... Anyway, enough of that. I'm just a guy from New Zealand (you know, that place with hobbits) |

Hi guys.
I registered like one year ago, but bever really came to the forum. I'm a 20 y.o. french guy. I'm doing an internship in Kyoto for two more months now, but the job is really boring so I ended up lurking on forums. I've been posting on another forum for 2 months now, but I really did not like the atmosphere there, too much aggressivity, too much trolling, even though there were useful info and nice people. It reminded me of this place, and I want to try TFP for some time. Hope to contribute to this place... When can you become a full member? Iblade |

We evaluate membership daily....after a 50 post/2 month minimum has been met. This gives us some measure of who the person is.
Welcome to the world of non-lurkers iblade....have fun

hello - im a returning TFP who lost access to my old name thanks to forgetting my password and having an ancient email address still hooked to it. oh well, im tired ot that name and what was attached to it. this is my name ive used for a long time with so many other things. a couple people here will recognize it but i think im starting anew here, which will feel good. more of the real me, less impressing people.
we'll see how it goes. but im back and excited to share me with you...s |

santasLilHelper - you made me think you were new. Gosh, I guess you just need to post more! Just think, if you could get away from that rookie status and get a custom title, it could be about Christmas. Geez, don't you want a Christmas avatar?
By the way, I've been naughty this year. Tell that to santa!

Hey, been browsing a lot here for a while. I'm down in birmingham, alabama. I'm quite liberal and surrounded by conservative religious folks who are also quite fancy. It's fall here and getting quite nice lately. Like the TFP - lots of fun threads to read...

I am a 32 yo white dude from The Motor city by way of ATL. I am now living N. of LA.
wife, 2 kids, 1 car. F/t student. I usually eschew msg boards, but a friend rec'd this one, so i thought id take her for a test drive. So far, nothing special. I remain sceptical, especialy about 'tiered access'. It has been my experience this is often used as a mechanism for entrenching cliquish behavior, and excluding/oppressing the newbs. Hopefully that will not be the case here. (Talk about burning your bridges b-4 u cross them!) Anyway, we shall see. |

Welcome SERPENT7
We actually try to use the "Tier" to maintain the quality of this community, by halting immaturity from entering the more....sensative areas of TFP. Rookies are treated no differently than anyone else in here as a general rule, simply because we all know they have the likelyhood of helping us all learn and evolve in time. As far as the Clique metality....there are many in our little forum, and its not really a bad thing as they tend to overlap frequently....it is also inevitable in societal interaction, so why fight it. Just enjoy this place for what it is, show respect for everyone, and they will return the favor. That is all we ask of anyone.
