Yes - Last I checked, posts in Nonsense and TB don't count towards your post total because the quality of posts in those two areas do not reflect the same as in the other areas of the board.
|
I understand that, since most of my posts have been in "reveal the last poster's secret" which are mostly one liners. However, the Henry Earl thread I started (which hardly anybody has seen) took a trememndous amount of time and html. I guess I should have put it in Humor.
Could a mod put it in humor? I don't care about the post credits. I think I made the incorrect choice when I put it in nonsense. I am a n00b, after all. |
Posts in Nonsense, while fun.. don't count against your total post count...
|
Poppinjay - just PM a mod - you can find a list of them Here
or hit the "Report Post" button, and in the comments section state you are the creator of the thread, and would like it moved to Humor. |
Thank you!

Ooh! Oooh! Mistah Kotter! I have another question. It's 2:19 here, when I post this it will say 6:19. Where is this server located? Switzerland?
|
Hi, Ok, in my profile it says I have a referral. The problem is, I've only been here a few days and I've never used the referral link. I didn't even know what a referral on this site was until I saw that I had one and looked it up in the FAQ.
Are the referrals used in a different way here? Can they be accumulated in a way other than using the link? I'd just hate to think I was somehow stealing someone else's referrals if they are what the FAQ says they are. :/ |
Poppinjay - if you go into the User CP at the top of the page, you need to go to :
Edit Options: Scroll down to the Day/Time Options, then select the correct time zone for your area. That should take care of your issue. 2quillmadness, referrals appear when someone else registers with the forum and gives your name as the person who led them here at that time. As far as it having telling anything more than the number of people who put your line in the blank when they registered, I'm not aware of anything. |
Thanks for clearing that up for me amonkie :)

What is considered "Quality post"?
|
Something that contributes in any way to our community, and follows the guidelines of civil discourse:
1) U R such a dweeb (not a quality post) 2) Your reply to the post was difficult to understand, would you mind rephrasing it? (quality post) |
What are the best forums to start off. I mean, I don't really feel like jumping directly in the Politics forum, if you know what I mean...
|
try clicking on the New Posts link up above...
|
General Discussion is an excellent place to begin, calm and active. Also lets you get to know the community.
|
tec is right about General Discussion, or pick one that you are really interested in, like Music or Gaming or something. My first home was Paranoia (hehe) and I read all the posts in there for my first few visits until I got the "flow" of the board.
|
What's the quickest way to have access to own's own posts? I usually search the forum for my own posts, then click on my user name... I usually want to see if someone answered my posts. Isn't there a way using like the CP?

What's the difference between an administrator and a moderator?
|
Admins talk alot louder....and dont warn people they are coming. Mods are pleasant and understanding individuals who smell nice and give expensive presents on holidays.....
Actually the Administrators are the force behind the changes, and evolution of the program we use here. We Mods are just here to keep the peace. |

that made my boring night of HW that much more amusing. |
If I agree with something that has been said a few times in a thread, can I still post saying I agree? Obviously not just a simple 'I agree'. But on some subjects that have been thoroughly covered I still might like to express my opinion. Would it be regarded as a quality post?
|
The biggest indicator of Quality is that you have read and thought about the Opening Post and subsequent posts, and the words you type in response have some substance. I often feel as you do that I agree with a lot of posters who reach a thread before I do. At that point, I choose either to withhold my voice because I don't feel I have something to add other than simply "I agree", or I can try to find something new to add. This doesn't merely mean that I have to provide useless drivel - often times I might have a question for one of the previous posters, or have a related question or issue come to mind based on how the discussion has gone.
|
Quality Opinion....makes a quality post. The length makes little difference in this. What we look for are patterns in personality, and use what the percieved , and combined quality is , to form a picture of the member.

I've been accused of far worse....

I don't have the option to have an avatar. Is that because I am new, or did I screw something up?
|
katie-- the option to have an avatar (among other things) doesn't appear until you reach 250 quality posts. If you click the 'click this' in my sig, all will be explained :D

|

Was lurking around and saw some mention of exhibitionists on this board. Is that true? If so, who are they and how risque are the posts? I wouldn't mind going there and showing off a little but if I have to wait to long,....
|
One more. Who are the mods and the admin people? Is there a list somewhere that tells us who is who?

How do you get to the most recent thread?
I seem to be attracted to threads over 2 years old. How do I get to more recent (like right now, today, yesterday) type threads? Gracias!
|
At the top of the page, you will see a NEW POSTS link, which will take you to the most currently active threads.
Though sometimes bumping up an old thread can be very interesting. |
Carl614 When you click on a forum, scroll down to the bottom and make sure your options is set to "Descending by last post". This will ensure the most recent threads are at the top of the list for you.
