how do I put a picture under my name?
 

Hey guys... I want to put a picture of my 300ZX under my name like many of the other people do. How and where do I put it?

you need to earn it. after 250 posts you have the ability to set an avitar. we suggest you put some thought into what you post, lots of post-spammers are finding their post counts getting lower sooner. just a suggestion

btw, this thread has been moved to the newbies section.

and were do i see post count ?

nm found out myself, aplyed that old gray matter looked in the members list searched for my name...

hit the profile button under your post. ;) Good job on the grey matter, though, always nice to see someone use it, now and again.

250, eh. Quite a bit. Ah well. Yeah, it's sometimes tempting to post for the sake of posting. Not only because we want avatars and such, but because we're killing time and aren't sure what to constructively add to the discussion so we go into rambling almost incoherent sentences. At least I do.

Ninja, my general advice is to relax, read posts, post well thought out replies, and have fun. Don't even think about post count. After a while, you will be surprised at how fast your number grows.

good idea guys, and now I must ask about the custom title, and whether that is earned at a certain point, or rather appointed to a select few.

Like the avatar the custom title comes with participation in TFP.

My profound thought for the day:

Participation in society is the key to a healthy life - no posting is like sitting at your rear window watching the world go - it is not satisfying - just look at Tom Hanks in Castaway - he made friends with a volleyball!!!

If you dont post, you too may inadvertently befriend some sporting equipment!

Yes. That'd kill people on dial-up.

i was kind of surprised when I joined and saw that sig images weren't allowed. but ya know it does make for a much cleaner look as ya browse through the threads

sometimes ppl make up huge, annoying sigs that just hurt yer eyes and make yer modem smoke

This forum is pretty sweet though since I just turned off signatures and avatar pictures and don't have to look at any of that crap.

go to the UserCP to change your profile, under user options and user profile. after crazy is... :) anything. and you get there by going forward. ;) just the same way you wandered rookie to tilted to crazy.

Click the http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/images/...op_profile.gif button. Click "Edit Options." Scroll down to "Change Avatar" and click. Then click browse and find the pic you want as your avatar. Restrictions are 100 x 100 pixels and no more than 10k.

Avatars are kinda nice. A way to personalize your posts.

But I don't like .sigs at all.

Too much nonesense and spam included...

I agree with you on that. Sig are ok but sometimes people have lika a page and half of sig and thats annoying. I can't wait to put my avatar up

Is there a way of knowing how many posts you have already made? I fear that working to sound intelligent sometimes has the opposite effect (I'm sure we all know that cultural anthropology student that is really irritating with their jargon) I'm working to revitalize my own personal curiosity so bear with me while I work to reintegrate myself with meaningful communication as being in the working world sometimes tends to dull ones imagination. To me it is sometimes a struggle to stay conscious in a world full of sleeping people.

All you have to do is click on the profile button in your post.
It will give you all the info you need.

Hah thats nothing, another message board i post on there are several people with 10000 posts, I myself almost have 2000 havn't been there a year.

250? That makes you a superdork? At most of the places I go that would take no more than two weeks. Well, to each his own.
