Question about my status.
Well, Ive been reading the TFP for a while now. I started back in April 2003. However, I do not post very often(bout 40 posts total). I am just more of a reader I guess.
So my title is still "Rookie" . Anyway I plan to donate to the TFP cause this is a great service. My question is: If I do donate can I get rid of that damn rookie title, and also get an avatar? |
you have to contribute with your words, not just your cash, (though it is always welcome).
|
Well, despite my lack of vocal contribution, I still feel like a pretty dedicated fan....but I guess I'll just have to open my mouth more. Can anyone be so kind as to tell me how many posts are required for an avatar/title change?
|
|
250 and then you can be like me! :D :D :D
|
Thanks for the link. I had read that a long time ago and had fogotten. And thanks for moving this to the right fourm....didn't know exactly where to put it.
|
Realize also, the quality of posts can make a difference in your status....or so the Germans would have us believe.

I really like that you all answer all these questions for us Mods. It makes our job much easier. And leaves us more time to send y'all viruses.

So how do you know when you are considered a member? My title is Tilted, but i can not see all forums. For example, I can not see any of the private forum.
What are the criterias for permission? Quality and quantity are the terms I a have been hearing from my friend. Are the any hardfast guidelines that I may review? Sorry for the questions, just new here. |
The beauty of this forum, is in the details.....No one knows the secrets of the mysterious Halx *Que spooky music*
You are a member now, and have been since you were a rookie, The key is participation and consideration. or reaching 250 posts....lol |
hold on, hold on ... i'm getting confused. i understand that you need 250 posts for an avatar and 500 for a custom title but how about advancing from "rookie"? what is the next title and when is it assigned?
|
when you reach 75? i believe posts it automatically switches to tilted and after that if the moderaters see they will review your status and can make you a full member which gives access to the private forums
|
I believe it's at 50 quality posts when you move on from "Rookie".
|
But beware the Ides Of March...for this is a forsoothsome grouping...You will know when the time is right, and not before.

Hi Keedo,
I consider you a member. When I only had a few posts, I thought of my self as a member and it was becasue I felt like I was giving and receiveing a lot from the rest of the boards. At 20 posts you can still share some incredible information and parts f your life with the tfp as much as anyone else with 2000 posts. It is what ever you put into it. I found that when I was still getting into the swing of things that 2 or 3 boards really sparked my interest and after a while I met more people like me. Before I knew it I was a "member" becasue I was sharing my experiences with everyone else. I hope this helps for you. Quote:

The thing I don't get, is that I have posted, maybe, a dozen times. My profile sat 3 posts. Why would that be?
And why did I used to have access to an avatar, and now it is no longer available? |
Posts in some areas (like Nonsense) are not counted towards your total count. This is part of the having to have quality posts. Generally, if it's not in nonsense, it's not quality hehe.
I believe the TB may be the same, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure what you mean that you had access to an avatar. Are you talking about the swinging boobs one? Did you get access to it right after this upgrade? If so, I'm thinking the "avatar" setting wasn't setup properly, and everyone had access to it for a bit. It must have been fixed. |
Thank for the info.
Yes, it was the large pendulous breasts. |
If you wish to increase your post count....and make them quality, spend a bit of time in General Discussion. I have found this area gives great opportunity for exchange, and is pretty fun as well.
|
Does someone monitor all us newbies for quality? Or is there someone we should approach when we feel we are evolving into useful and meaningful members?

Seriously, yes, we do monitor posts for quality. And, it's really not as subjective as you might think. Just put a little thought into what you're saying. |

I am an admin on another forum, and I know it is hard to see what all members are doing. But if you guys have it sorted, that's all I need to know :) Thanks for the reply. |
Im new to this Not sure what this board is all about yet
|
Now I'm starting to wonder whether the mods are checking each post to make sure they are quality and marking it up on a tally board and then sticking that into the computer to keep track of where everyone is at. I would bet that they just have a system that keeps track of your post count and checks users' posts to make sure they aren't all "I disagree, poopface." and so long as they aren't, you get the post counts. Of course, that's just my theory, and seeing as my status was Rookie last time I checked, may be wrong.
|
I agree with you

I guess I like the idea that you have to have X number of posts to see everything to spark more conversation, but at the same time, I sometimes just want to read or view peoples pictures and artwork. I am not sure I like that I need to comment just to be able to see it all. I will continue to do because I have to, but thought I would voice my humble opinion.
Thanks NewB |
Hey BigJ11, where/are you in the military? Haven't heard One Shot One Kill for a while ;)

|
