I see it all the time around the boards. What does it mean?

Nope, that's how NSFW is used here. Of course, half of the avatars themselves are NSFW as well, and if you are at work you should be working instead of surfing TFP, but people like that info anyway.

in other words, if you wouldnt' want your mom to see it if she walked in, please label it. I do some surfing from school, for example, and while my fellow lab-mates wouldn't care if I were browsing forums, some of the stuff here'd startle em. warnings, even redundant ones, are ALWAYS appreciated.

sfw = safe for work (not used a whole lot on the boards, but you see it in the IRC channel)
lmao = laughing my ass off
lol = laughing out loud

There is an option to not display avatars. Check your user control panel. I ran that way for a while. It loads faster, too.

it means that the content of the post is not acceptable to be viewed at work (unless you have a cool boss) it may be nudity, graphic, extreamly sexual, etc

if you at work dont risk it, acualy dont even be on the site at work. we dont want any one geting fired. nsfw is also universal to many sites.

At my work NSFW means every one in the office will check it outand my boss will go into his office and shut the door so he can " review" it in private.

I figured most of the people on this board found it through FARK, and knew what NSFW meant.

Anyway - before asking a question on anything:

No answer? - now the right time to ask.
These 3 sites alone have made me sound smarter and more articulate than I really am ;).

On some sites you really need to know what it means...like tgereare some sick ass pictures.

Tfproject doesn't have much NSFW things other then nudity.

Of course, it all depends on what your work is. I'm sure if you work at a sex store, NSFW doesn't hold the same associations
