How does this work

Hey all,
New to this "threading"system...not sure how it works but its pretty cool .I have no idea what im doing so if I do something really weird you'll know why

mew 04-27-2003 12:38 PM

Is this right?

Hey Tantalizer..seems I gots me a stalker..LOL . Naw thats great. Thanks a ton for the welcome. You guys are really great and friendly..hope to see you around as well.Expect to see wandering around and causing a ruckus...not purposely of course...or is it? ;) [U]
whats a quote..testing..wht are tags?

mew 04-27-2003 12:40 PM

Testing[U]Is this how it works?

cheerios 04-27-2003 07:01 PM

lol mew, surround what you want to bold w/ [b ] and to bold [i ] and [/ i] make things itallics, [u] and [ /u] make things underlined (take the spaces out, of course)!!
colors are text in a color [/ COLOR] and to make a URL, it looks like this
this is hte text you want ot be hyperlinked[/ url]

hope that helps!

Loki 05-01-2003 04:11 AM

a good way to picture this is as if its a signal... kinda like a flag.

i.e when you say [ b ] (without the spaces) your telling html to start making everything bold. when you say [ /b ] (without the spaces) your telling html to stop making everything bold.

MexicanOnABike 05-01-2003 10:38 AM

ok good!

Arock 05-01-2003 05:54 PM

Trying this

Arock 05-01-2003 05:55 PM

Arock 05-01-2003 05:57 PM

To mix them just do this, [ color=yellow][ b]color and bold[ /b][ /color] (without the spaces) and you will get this: color and bold

Arock 05-02-2003 12:08 PM

mew 05-02-2003 04:21 PM

Tantalizer:Thanks, I remember seeing you in the chat. I hope to see you around too.

Cheerio:Thanks for the advice..I saw a lot of your postages and links, quite the collection!

Spectre:thanks to your added advice I cmbined everything everybody said Im slowly learning bit by bit.

Is this how people make websites and stuff?
And is it true, to have a picture under a nick you have to have posted a couple hundred posts to be able to be allowed to do that...that really sucks..are swears allowed on posts too?

Mew:confused:

cheerios 05-02-2003 04:32 PM

oops mew, ALMOST got it! close your tags! for example or :) there have to be []'s on both sides!

mew 05-02-2003 04:47 PM

Yay I think I finally got it!Thanks for the rooting Cheerios!lol yeah americans write colour without the u which is slowing the process down a little...I still have to practice a little more.

mew 05-02-2003 05:13 PM

lol well Hey there in California...Been there once and its Great! no bugs and beautiful weather...cept for the huge black smog and traffic, but its to be expected being really populated and all. Here in Canada its always cold and ...buggy.lol!

mew 05-04-2003 05:00 PM

lol thanks Tantalizer!

cheerios 05-04-2003 08:57 PM

to answer your questions, webpages are made using html, which is similar to the tags we use here. they tend to use <> instead of [] brackets, though. :)
Yes, to get an avatar, you need to participate on the boards for awhile. don't worry, it's not as hard as it sounds. :)
And yes, you can cuss, but being polite is a good idea. we value mature conversation here, but if there really isn't any other way to say it...

mew 05-04-2003 09:19 PM

Oh, well thats always intresting..so i kind of learned C++ 101 kinda.. How do I know how many posts Ive made? I know how to get back to them now but not the post counts.
Of course maturity..thats great though..If there isnt a word for it..in any other way..I wont get booted..

cheerios 05-04-2003 09:30 PM

nah, won't get booted. Being rude to others will get you warned and banned if it continues, however. To see your post count click "profile" under your name. :)

bondagegirl 05-04-2003 10:05 PM

This is great to have up thanks! I learned a lot!!!! now let me see if I can do it...woo hoo

Ganguro 05-05-2003 07:14 AM

remember folks, just because you CAN do something doesnt mean you should abuse it :)

mew 05-05-2003 07:07 PM

Glad I can help other people learn along with me. I want to thank everyone for being helpful and kind. And yes of course I wont abuse...unless your into that kinda thing ;) LOL! Jk.

mew 05-05-2003 07:09 PM

cheerios 05-22-2003 08:15 AM

Not: I'm gonna make some text blue. Your job is to hit quote, 'cuz when you go to reply, you see my source "code" so you'll see how it should look. kay?

ooooh purdy
red too!

the trick: GET RID OF ALL SPACES!! ;)

Force 10 05-25-2003 04:12 PM

It's all too easy. Choose the post reply option rather then the Submit reply option. There you have many options including color and all that biz. Go to the testing board (so as not to spam here) and make all different combination posts using the easy interface. Then edit your post so you can see and learn from the code.

And then there's this scrolling text stuff... still haven't figured it out :-\

If you need help figuring out what redravin and Jadz did to make the scrolling text, just click the http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/images/...tfp4/quote.gif in their posts.

JadziaDax 05-25-2003 04:51 PM

Or read the following

To scroll right
<marquee direction=right>text</marquee>

To scroll left
<marquee direction=left>text</marquee>

To scroll up
<marquee direction=up>text</marquee>

To scroll down
<marquee direction=down>text</marquee>
