i'm afraid to post anything with less than 2 sentences.
Well now that I've started posting, I'm kinda a little hesitant to play those 1 word or 1 sentence type games on the Nonsense forum because I've read that "spam" type posts don't make the mods happy. Anyway, I just want to know that if I play any of those games, once I hit that magic number ( ) I won't be excluded from the good stuff because I played the 1 sentence/word games on the nonsense forum.

Explore all the forums, including the Nonsense forum. Post quality, have fun, enjoy the conversations. If you watch your post count, it only goes slower. Just post to converse and add to the conversation, and you'll be in before you noticed where the time had gone.

It's okay to play in nonsense, just don't make all of your posts in those games. Venture into the other forums too and just respond. The games are good occasionally, and the mods only get grumpy if you, say posted 10+ times in a row to the same thread before anyone else responded.

Yeah i was thinking about this too, i've been having (what i consider) some good discussions in a couple of the forums in philosophy, will those count as spam? i'm not double/triple posting just responding to what someone says with my own thoughts, i'm sure thats ok just want to double check.

yup, not a problem. when you, alone, post 10 times in a row, it get's anoying. when you post a reply to every thread in a forum, we get annoyed. when you post "asdf" and "123512"... we get annoyed. most anything else goes.

I occasionally make a one work post. I also occasionally make a 1000 word post.
I figure it evens out. Sometimes one word says it all. My favorite one word post? Bah!

Don't be scared Tex. play the games, have a ball. You know when you're posting to raise your post count... Post to make conversation instead. If you can say what's on your mind in a few words, then do it. I do. It's not a bad thing to post small. When you see something that really strikes your interest, talk about it. if you can't find anything to talk about, start your own thread ;-)

We look A LOT at your INTENT.
If it looks like you're spamming, then yeah, you'll get smacked for it. If it looks like a legit short post (such as those word games in Nonsense) then no, you're fine.

alot of times, i'm afraid to say anything for fear of angering others while i'm still such a n00b here. alot of times, i just like to sit back relax and LEARN about things. alot of the forums here are filled with really knowledgeable people. sometimes though, you get a few bad ones. but if you want me to, i don't mind replying one or two lines for the topics that interest me.

Just be yourself and play nice and you will get along nicely! I was a member befor the big crash for about a year and have never seen a non troll related flame fest yet. The mods are pretty fast and dedicated, rarely does a troll go unnoticed long enough to cause real trouble.
Above all, HAVE FUN!!! |
