The New and Improved Introduction Thread!!!!!
Hi there, new person! Welcome to TFP! We're glad that you're here!
TFP prides itself on being a place for intelligent and mature discussion. We're not an echo chamber (or we try not to be anyway), so don't expect everyone to agree with your opinions. Now, it may look like this is a closed group, but it's not. The only thing holding you back from being a part of the group is hesitating over that "post" key. Go ahead and press it. No one is going to judge you. We may not agree with everything that you have to say, but honestly, we don't want to agree. It's much more interesting to hear different opinions and takes on things. So, please introduce yourself to us and start posting elsewhere. If you need help with something, just ask! We'd like to try to help!

Hi,
The first post is the hardest... So,... where to start. What do people put in these? Okay, I'm new here. ~ Big surprise, right? I'm not good with words but I talk a lot. Hoping to find a place to discuss whatever comes to mind and if I'm lucky~ learn something. Oh, I like smileys... annoyingly so! |

I don't know if I'm expected to reply or just wander off, yet you both were so nice to welcome me~ Hi & Thanks!
I was wandering around looking for an Avatar to fit and putting words in my little "about me" place... I hope I can find it again. Now, to take a bigger leap and step into the playground. |

Hi, Cats Eyes. Not all of us revel in being strange and weird. Ok, that's a lie. The truth is that not all of us revel in being strange and weird all the time. Usually we're just people. Glad you found us.
Xman, the fact that I put 5 exclamation points into the title at all made the stick up my ass twinge. There's no way you're getting more.

Ok, decided to try...
Since this is my first post, how about knowing a little about me? I'm 33 years old and live (today) in brazil. I study philosophy and like to talk, although its becoming hard to find people that endure a talk that lasts more than five minutes about any subject. Besides all that, I'm reaching for new people and participating in this forum seems like a nice beginning... Considering the fact that I don't know anyone around, I'll try to see if I can find people to talk around. Cheers, Wilhelm Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk |

Wilhelm, nice to see you using Tapatalk!!! I installed it just for people like you!
Well, okay, more so that people who frequent this space can frequent it from other spaces than just their offices and desks. Welcome! It's nice to see you and Cat.

Wilhelm and Cat Eyes, welcome aboard.
Wilhelm, I'm quite looking forward to the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend. Nice to have one on our side of the globe so I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn or force myself to stay awake until 3 am. |

I just found this site and it looks like a cool place. I am more used to forums related to a specific theme lately, e.g. electric motorcycles, but this could work.
My general world view is that life is short, so make life as interesting as you can. I like discussing philosophy and politics in forums better than in person. I am a big fan of the books written by Dale Carnegie. Here are two quotes from one of his books: "First ask yourself: What is the worst that can happen? Then prepare to accept it. Then proceed to improve on the worst." -Dale Carnegie "Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday." -Dale Carnegie |

Welcome, Nepenthes. Your world view reminds me of a local coffee shop's slogan: "Life's short, stay awake."
I, too, find it easier to discuss certain topics online as opposed to in person. I suppose there isn't as much pressure to respond right away. Hope you enjoy the 'site =)

I think I'll introduce myself again in the fancy new thread because Plan9 keeps complaining that I don't post, and this is an awesome way to avoid producing any real content.

Hello there Chesire. May I pour you some tea? I like your grin.
My old eyes can't discern what type of cycle, our new member, Nepenthes is riding. Me myself likes the quieter old BMW & Moto Guzzi bikes. Crack Monk.....This fancy thread welcomes your footprints upon us. |

Hi, pleased to meet you.
I'm pretty passionate about matters of communication and its improvement. The goals of this place as stated, are close to my own. If that 'Evolve or we Die' thread is typical of how this group addresses problems and puzzles, then this is one which walks its talk, and I am in the right place. I'll develop a posting habit soon enough, but for now, as a new guy, I'll be mostly listening and learning as I continue to familiarise myself. Best wishes Z |

Hi zenda. That is one of the most promising introductory posts I've read in years. I'm hoping you develop those posting habits soon.
Not that you should be discouraged Nepenthes. I found your electric motorcycle thread an interesting read. Crack Monk, you know Plan9. Who's probably warned you about me (I know I would if the situation were reversed). Enough said.

(Just kidding. Jager is disgusting.) Plan9 warned me of nothing. NOTHING. In fact, he didn't even warn me that I'd come across every funny thing he's ever said to me on this site. I now feel like I'm getting sloppy joke seconds. |

Poor, poor CM. You're laboring under the mistaken impression that anything Plan9 says is 1) original and 2) funny. Throw enough balls, and some of them are bound to hit the broad side of the barn.

Welcome Jeremiah! You've only been here a short time but already you've made a splash! It's always fun when folks feel comfortable to just jump right in.
I think you'll find this to be a place to make the best kinds of friends - the wacky, original, would't have them any other way kinds.
