Intro
I figured I would drop a line here and say hello...as to I hate doing intro but yet know its the right thing to do!
I am not sane nor insane I am not nice nor mean I am not happy nor am I sad I don't live for the moment I live for the second as the next is uncertain I don't allow to be built up and then torn down. I build one up and stride on keeping it going... I am me and thats who I am..I am a very strange mystery at times I have no clue who I identify with of if I identify with anyone. |

hello!
Hi, I'm TigerBlood! Some things about me:
I'm introverted. I'm a big fan of ST:TNG, especially Data. I am currently reading Dune, and wish I had Voice powers. My cat, Mr. Whiskers is my best friend. I think Charlie Sheen is hilarious. I like to dabble in art, currently linocutting. |

Hi, I'm HandmeDown. Drifting the web and this place looked inviting, perhaps enlightening.

Well Let's See Here.....
I caught this as the result of looking into a specialized piece of audio gear and saw a few less than qualified answers to the effect that it's snake oil.
Then I noticed the humanity, philosophical, and sexuality based aspect and figured I could have some fun here. I'm a student of humanity in terms of psychology. I promised to tell a story about my Uncle Dick on the other thread so I will. My Uncle Dick has the best stereo system in the world, bar none it is the best. Now inevitably there would be a few dozen people that would argue the point, but if they don't know Dick how can they? And that's the problem, every time someone goes to talk about a question someone asks too many people that don't know Dick jump in with irrelevant and ignorant opinions. So my advice in terms of specific questions are simple, if you don't know Dick, shutup. I ask generally intelligent questions when I'm around those who seem to know what they are talking about, I offer advice on the things I am knowledgeable about, and I watch and listen when I don't know what I'm talking about. |

Hello all! I live in Hawaii, and will only be doing that until the end of the summer, when I'll be going back to school. On my way out of the Navy right now. I've been lurking these forums for literally years, since I saw fark.com's link to the Titty Board and got distracted by the rest of the boards that actually have content.
Side note: the "Introduce yourself here!" link at the top of newbie's forum pages gives you a link the the old, closed thread. Whoever is in control around here...can you fix it? This will be the first forum I've ever joined, so it should be an interesting experience. I'll demystify a few things right up front: My profile picture is a view out my back door, and "Iron Saint" is a reference to the USS Santa Fe (Fe = atomic symbol for Iron, Santa = saint), the submarine I was assigned to in the Navy. And Mahalo....I assume you're from Hawaii too. Hello! |

Hey everyone, I found this site searching Google to see if you could refill a Bic lighter (you can, not worth the effort) and was intrigued by the banter in the thread I read, and the forums in general. I've been a forum member before, but this is the first one I can really see myself sticking around in. Looking forward to getting involved in discussions and having some fun!

A Day in the life!
Greetings to all. I am known as Skidder 51. There are times after a hard days work, I feel I need to unwind by posting things of interest, at least to me and hopefully others. Many times, I just want to listen in on a thread or topic that I may have little knowledge of and learn something.
Being a new person on here, I hope to interact and maybe have a laugh or two and meet some interesting people. So with that being said, let me throw something out there. I have been interviewing people for a sales position in my company. I have met and spolken to some very interesting candidates. some are exceedingly intelligent. Some carry a great deal of baggage. Then there are those that should be looking at another avenue for employment. My frustration is with the younger candidates. On paper and electronically, they are extremely brilliant. Unbelievable. Where I see many of them coming up short is people skills. I guess to say, the lack of them. I am disappointed in having intelligent, meaningful conversations. I recently attended a family function where my sisters and their families were all together in celebration of my Mom's 80th birthday. Most of the teenagers and kids intheir early 20's sat or stood around texting. Texting, texting and still more texting. Conversations between us were very cordial but very short and honestly, little interaction. I thought back to my youth and saw a big difference in conversations we would have with older family members. Night and day. This got me thinking during this interviewing process, that this is a problem with this present generation. I would love to be wrong. I see with all the gains we have made in the computer generation, we have lost the need to verbally carry on conversations with each other except for text, facebook, and e-mails. Just throwing this out there. I appreciate hearing from some of you to hear other views and make sure I am not forming a prejudice. Thanks to all ahead of time for feedback. |

Salutations. I stumbled on this forum while looking for fellow insomniacs, and then found myself interested in the range of topics listed. It's been a long time since I've been part of a decent forum, but the tiny thread of hope is still there.
I'll try not to be a veritable 'post-splosion'. I tend to be a bit..intense, if I get interested.

Hello there. I came across this site via a Google search, and rather than wandering off once my queries had been answered, I've been reading various threads on this forum and have been impressed by the intelligent and open-minded discussion. I'm a shy sort, but regardless, am very intrigued by the topics discussed here.
