Hello from a mudpit [my little introduction post]

After days of searching for a general discussion forum that wasn't bloated with thousands of active users at a time, I found TFP

I'm a paratrooper in the U.S. Army currently sitting in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. I've found myself with an excessive amount of indoor time lately so I wanted something to do with it *enter the quest for a message board*

I love technology, history, and poetry, I'm studying Latin in my spare time, and when I'm at home I enjoy debating philosophy and ethics with my dog Jewels (she usually wins).

I'm a major leftist unless its a topic where my fascist opinions are contradicted and I'm a huge supporter of the animal rights movement (except for PETA, I hate those nutcases).

Anyway, this looks like a good place to kill hours upon hours of otherwise productive time, so here I am!

(if you made it all the way to the bottom without skipping stuff, then  for you)

Hey, welcome!

Fucking awesome, man. Without getting into all of my heroic loving patriotism views, thanks for doing what you do. Paratrooper sounds way badass, by the way. Good to see a fellow PETA hater as well!

It's very tricky discussing philosophy with dogs. Welcome to TFP :)

Especially if your damn dog is an Epicurean.

(I'm a Stoic.... don't ask.)

CinnamonGirl 02-09-2010 06:36 PM

Wouldn't it make more sense if the DOG was a Stoic? hmmmm.... I suppose your pet could be extremely attached to his doggy bed & tennis ball.

My dog smells like a horse right now. I only want to discuss ways of getting her away from me.

I thought I'd ask if there word-play/idea driven tools that have been used in the past to create poetic riffs on the rights of man vs society? If anyone knows it ought to be Canine

You should fit in well here. Not that many don't.

Thanks for your service, and wow, a leftist in uniform! Glad there's one, at least!

Welcome!

Man, how did this joke go again? It is one of my all-time favourites. (and maybe one I've referenced with little to no chance of anybody reciprocating knowledge of it.)

Canine: I don't know of another greeting word that has not already been said prior to my arrival, so I'll just say that I said 'Be at ease here'.

Canine 02-10-2010 10:37 AM

thanks all!

and kramus... I have no clue if there is :P

The_Jazz 02-10-2010 11:54 AM

The eminent philosopher herself:

That dog lookes deep in thought. Does all this philosopher dog stuff kinda remind anyone of the book Animal Farm? Or is it just me? Probably just me.

CinnamonGirl 02-10-2010 09:23 PM

Awwww...what an adorable dog!

Can I have her?

My ex was in the 82nd Airborne.

Welcome to the board. I'm pretty sure that you'll fit in well. :)
