Rule's a rule. No minors. Very good reasons for that rule.

Listen: have sex with her a week before her 18th birthday, you could go to jail. There's 18 and then there's not-18. This one is currently not-18. But she'll be 18 soon, and we can have a good ol' time with her THEN. But not NOW.

Uh, no. If I have sex with her a week before her 18th b-day I'm not going anywhere. It's 17 in Illinois.

Okay, fine, but you get my point, right? There's 17, and there's not-17.

I see your point, but I don't see very good reasons for it. Aside from simply following the rules.

Well, I won't presume to speak for Hal about why he established that rule, but if you have a question about it, I'm sure you can ask.

For me, though, it just makes sense. It's an adult board, with adult topics, discussed among adults. The hard-working mods do whatever they can to make sure the people here are adults. And you have to draw the line somewhere, and once the line is drawn you don't cross it. PerfectlyFlawed may be a very mature 17-year-old (and, in fact, her brief posting history does seem to indicate that--she's dealing with very grown-up stuff in her life, for someone of her age). But she's still too young to participate, right up until when she isn't.

Her being 18 won't make her any more of an adult than she is right now. Again, I understand it in legal terms, but other than that it's a very moot point.
