MGIB (Montgomery G.I. Bill)
Anyone know how this works? I know I have lots of money in this $30,000 or so to use for college, but I am not sure how it works exactly.
Does anyone here use this? Is it a flat rate, or do they just pay for the classes? Is it different for full/part time students? I was in the USAF for 5 years, and now that I am out, I want to go back to school, any help will be awesome, thanks. ~Crack |

Uncle Sam will pay a flat rate, per month, depending on how much time you spend in school (based on hours). You need to sign up for classes in the school, then request the payments. The financial office will have the specifics. Once you start, it's pretty easy to keep.

There was a six month gap, between the Vietnam era G.I Bill, and the Montgomery G.I Bill.
Guess where this dumbass landed. Yup. I went active duty right smack in the middle of those 6 moths, so no G.I. Bill for me. :( Now, add to that the fact that I was 17 when I went active, and 26 when I separated, and you have the fact that I never registered for the Selective Service. That causes no end of trouble, every time I apply for student aid. Bureaucracy...gotta love it. |
