Oct. 20, 2005 — Thirteen-year-old twins Lamb and Lynx Gaede have one album out, another on the way, a music video, and lots of fans.

They may remind you another famous pair of singers, the Olsen Twins, and the girls say they like that. But unlike the Olsens, who built a media empire on their fun-loving, squeaky-clean image, Lamb and Lynx are cultivating a much darker personna. They are white nationalists and use their talents to preach a message of hate.

Known as "Prussian Blue" — a nod to their German heritage and bright blue eyes — the girls from Bakersfield, Calif., have been performing songs about white nationalism before all-white crowds since they were nine.

"We're proud of being white, we want to keep being white," said Lynx. "We want our people to stay white … we don't want to just be, you know, a big muddle. We just want to preserve our race."

Lynx and Lamb have been nurtured on racist beliefs since birth by their mother April. "They need to have the background to understand why certain things are happening," said April, a stay-at-home mom who no longer lives with the twins' father. "I'm going to give them, give them my opinion just like any, any parent would."

April home-schools the girls, teaching them her own unique perspective on everything from current to historical events. In addition, April's father surrounds the family with symbols of his beliefs — specifically the Nazi swastika. It appears on his belt buckle, on the side of his pick-up truck and he's even registered it as his cattle brand with the Bureau of Livestock Identification.

"Because it's provocative," explains April of the cattle brand, "to him he thinks it's important as a symbol of freedom of speech that he can use it as his cattle brand."

Teaching Hate

Songs like "Sacrifice" — a tribute to Nazi Rudolf Hess, Hitler's deputy Fuhrer — clearly show the effect of the girls' upbringing. The lyrics praise Hess as a "man of peace who wouldn't give up."

"It really breaks my heart to see those two girls spewing out that kind of garbage," said Ted Shaw, civil rights advocate and president of the NAACP's Legal Defense Fund — though Shaw points out that the girls aren't espousing their own opinions but ones they're being taught.

On that point, April Gaede and Ted Shaw apparently agree.

"Well, all children pretty much espouse their parents' attitudes," she said. "We're white nationalists and of course that's a part of our life and I'm going to share that part of my life with my children."

Since they began singing, the girls have become such a force in t
he white nationalist movement, that David Duke — the former presidential candidate, one-time Ku-Klux-Klan grand wizard and outspoken white supremacist — uses the twins to draw a crowd.

Prussian Blue supporter Erich Gliebe, operator of one of the nation's most notorious hate music labels, Resistance Records, hopes younger performers like Lynx and Lamb will help expand the base of the White Nationalist cause.
"Eleven and 12 years old," he said, "I think that's the perfect age to start grooming kids and instill in them a strong racial identity."

Gliebe, who targets young, mainstream white rockers at music festivals like this past summer's "Ozzfest," says he uses music to get his message out.
But with names like Blue-Eyed Devils and Angry Aryans, these tunes are far more extreme than the ones sung by Lamb and Lynx.

"We give them a CD, we give them something as simple as a stick, they can go to our Web site and see other music and download some of our music," said Gliebe. "To me, that's the best propaganda tool for our youth."

A Taste for Hate

Gliebe says he hopes that as younger racist listeners mature, so will their tastes for harder, angrier music like that of Shawn Sugg of Max Resist.
One of Sugg's songs is a fantasy piece about a possible future racial war that goes: "Let the cities burn, let the streets run red, if you ain't white you'll be dead."

"I'd like to compare it to gangsta rap," explained Sugg, "where they glorify, you know, shooting n****** and pimping whores."

Sugg shrugs off criticism that music like his should not be handed out to schoolyard children, arguing that "it's just music, it's not like you're handing out AK-47s."

Perhaps not, but Shaw says it's the ideas in the music that are dangerous.
"When you talk about people being dead if they're not white," said Shaw, "I don't think there is much question that that is hateful."

A Place to Call Home

Despite the success of Prussian Blue and bands like Max Resist within the White Nationalism movement, most Americans don't accept their racist message.

Like many children across the country, Lamb and Lynx decided to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina — the white ones.

The girls' donations were handed out by a White Nationalist organization who also left a pamphlet promoting their group and beliefs — some of the intended recipients were more than a little displeased.

After a day of trying, the supplies ended up with few takers, dumped at a local shop that sells Confederate memorabilia.

Last month, the girls were scheduled to perform at the local county fair in their hometown. But when some people in the community protested, Prussian Blue was removed from the line-up.

But even before that, April had decided that Bakersfield was not "white" enough, so she sold her home, and hopes that she and the girls can find an all-white community in the Pacific Northwest.

There are so many things I could say about this, and so many of them are obvious.

Rather than take the tack "OMFG Racism is awful" and all that jazz (which is valid and all) I saw a slightly different aspect.

Reading this made me feel, at first, bad for the little girls. They're being confined to a life of such one-demensional views. That's sad for them. It's surely possible that they'll spend thier whole lives seeing other people through a lens of hate.

It's sad, and it's unforunate.

It also impresses on me the power parents have with thier kids. Each generation, we get a chance to make things better for the human race. It's just a darn shame that some people can't see that, and they choose to bestow the twisted gift of racism on thier children.

We can each make the world a little better after reading this story, and we can help counter the sickness thier words spread.

Every time each of us has the opportunity to interact with someone of a different race or background, we can remember this story. We can remember how much negativity that racism pumps into our lives, and we can choose to not perpetuate that. Instead, we can all give different people the same chance we each hope to have ourselves.

We can treat each other with dignity and respect, and we can hope that we pass that gift to each other, the people we love, those we work with, and maybe one day, kids raised like those two innocent girls.

This is a valid position to hold. Whilst I'm not racist nor "White Nationalist," I can see someone legitimately holding this belief of homogenous genes without hating anyone. Wanting to keep your genetics consistent is in line with Monarchies who pass power via blood relatives, and its hardly racist. Speaking ENTIRELY genetically, African Americans are more susceptible to things like sickle cell anemica, because of the mutatability of certain chains on their DNA structure. I'd personally never use this to discount someone of another race or even disagree with interacial marriage, but it's a valid point of view -- from the scientific "purity" standpoint.

Praising Nazis and getting a swastika brand, that's another whole can of worms.

I'd like to point out that I was incorrect above, from a purely scientific standpoint interracial marriage does NOT reduce the aggregate fitness of the a genetic "race" group. I just read a rather effective rebuttal of this fallacy at http://www.gnxp.com/MT2/archives/003447.html ..

The fallacy is that the argument considers only the offspring of the man, and not the other people affected by his choice.

it's an interesting read, for those of you (who, like me) thought there was scientific merit to keeping genetic pools seperate. Now these fools have NO excuse for spouting their propaganda -- sorry for the disturbance. :-D

They are probably in it for the money.
The BBC did a short report on the twins this week.
They can not sing in tune. Not even close.
They are terrible singers. They really need a gimmick.

It's stories like this that make the whole concept of home schooling a very very bad thing. Had these children been exposed to some diversity in their education, instead of their mother's onesidedness, they might be able to form their own opinions on things. Instead, this is the future generation... Lovely...

I think that is largely true. I remember more than 20 years ago reports of white supremacy groups that the media held left unchecked would spread across the nation. Years later I recall seeing the same types of reports but making it appear that this was something new. I suspect had the media not tossed this out in this fashion and it hadn't been posted here most of us would have never heard of these girls.

Now on the broader subject of racism ingeneral, I just did a lengthy peice of the history of black/white racism in America here http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=96689 so I will be brief. The core of racism (of all races vs all races not just black and white) is simply lack of education. History being the obvious hot button here. On the other forum I mostly talked about why there is black on white racism so I suppose I should touch on white on black racism. It all goes back to Britain. In a nut shell, when one tiny island can lay its flag on every continent but two in the world, well it gets a big head (probably would have claimed them all but there was no one to attack in antartica and damn those spaniards are quick devils) now take those big heads and move them to one of its colonys, America. Now they decided they would become independent from their quite powerfull motherland, fight war, win. Bigger heads abound. Now some of them get slaves and get rich. Heads are now at an all time high. Then of course some D.C. fat cats decide they can't have their slaves anymore. They get pissed, decided they would become independent from their quite powerfull motherland, they lose. Upon this defeat, egos smashed not only by their militaristic but also the fact that they were no forced to release all their slaves, well someone had to pay for this indignigty. Whats left of the confederacy forms the KKK. Throughout the rest of the 1800s and much of the 1900s, the KKK grew in size and power. Many important people, including mayors, city councilmen and sheriffs, where openly members. To sum it up, since I promised you all (but mostly myself) to keep this rant short, though race relations have gotten better since the KKKs heyday, the KKK still exists. As this article pointed out, racism is taught, parent to child. The only cure for racism is education. Hopefully my above rant (like the one on the other post) was not new information for anyone. My point in writing all that was not to educate people about the KKK, because I really hope everyone knows atleast as much as I just said. What I want people to do is this, when reading articles like this, think about the KKK and the civil war and its part in all of this. Don't blame these girls for being evil people, they are not. They are just victims of society and history. More importantly, don't blame the mother either, she was obviously spoon food it by her dad the same way she is feeding them. Don't blame her dad either, he learned it from somewhere too. The point is, this is not a problem that will be solved through blaming anyone. It is not a sickness of the indvidual, it is a sickness of a society.

I don't have any problem with people being racist. You can believe what you want. You can shout your opinion from the rooftops, I don't care, just like I don't care what religion you are, or what sports team you support. I do care if that opinion hurts people. In this case, I feel sorry for the girls. Their hate is not their own, and their lives are going to be worse off for it.

We - from an outside vantage point - can easily see how this upbringing is having a negative impact on their lives. Sadly, these girls will most likely live in a bubble, surrounding themselves with like-minded people so they will probably never really appreciate how others feel.

Then again, they may grow up, become exposed to other viewpoints, and end up resenting their parents for bringing them up in such a way.

As to moving to the Pacific NW, 1) we don't want you and 2)you'll be disappointed if you expect all white people up here.

I am with Zyr on the its their right to believe but honestly that is a terrible thing to teach a child. I wonder how detrimental this will be on the lives of they poor girls. Its sad that the creation of Race by the human race has allowed people who are no less and no better than the rest rise or fall just from the belief that Race is a real thing.
