Phobias
I got this from watching a show on Nation Geographic Channel, first there was a girl who was Claustrophobic, and then next was an Arachnophobic person.
This just makes me ask the question. Do you have any Phobias? me i cant think of any, but when talking about internal organs and how they work, kinda freaks me out. Yours?

Rats scare the crap outta me. The big ones that look like small cats.
I was at a cousins house who lives on a farm and I could hear the rats running around in the floorboards. I got up, went to the barn and got two of the barn cats (that I am allergic too) and took them into my room with me. My eyes were watering like mad and my nose was running, but those rats weren't gonna get me with my protectors.

I am an incredibly sound sleeper and my only fear is waking up with a shotgun pointed at my head.If a light goes on anywhere in my house,I will wake up,but I can't hear a door slam if it meant my life. Since I live alone, maybe it's time for a dog,or a shotgun.

Mostly just snakes. If they're in a cage, it's fine, but in the wild they scare the crap outta me. I don't ever know which are poisonous, and you never know when they're going to strike.

I use to have arachnophobia. i would wig out if a small spider got close. i realized i was affraid if a small got to me i'd be stuck and unable to defend myself or even to stand up and shake it off.. defenseless
the big spiders never bothered me. one day a spider dscended right in my face. my instinct was to kill it. i resisted the urge to kill, after all i preach Thou Shall Not Kill life... so i watched it... it was hard, but I did it. i put 100% effort into not panicking. i watched it. a week later it happened again. this time i had much less panick. now they don't bother me. i can't say i won't wig out if a black widow gets on me, but i feel good for controlling myself. last Fall i did a southern No No! i found a recluse spider that managed to get trapped in a sealed jar. how the hell he breathed is beyond me.... i went and turned it loose. now i respect them very much. its not a phobia, but one thing that can make me queesy are worms. i have to give my lizards them, though, so oh darn. but they just...... gross me out. as far as other reptiles or animals i've held and played with a gator, dozens of lizards, dozens of snakes, frogs, turtles, pet rat that weighed about 2 pounds (huge), gerbil, birds, parrots, couple great parrots.... so on so on |

When I was little was afriad of sleeping alone in the dark, but that was from watching the Gremblins movie.....
Now that I'm older I can't really think of anything I'd call a phobia... Though I am worried about losing my father...

I'm claustrophobic. It sucks, especially at concerts, because then I have to be in the back in case I need to escape.
I also have a deep-seated fear of nuclear war. When I was in 9th grade, we watched a bunch of videos about the atomic bomb and its effects on the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was sick and sad that we as human beings could do that to people. I am also extremely frightened of bridges. I have a recurring dream where I drive off of the end of an unfinished bridge and drown. A book I once read suggested that such recurring dreams associated with strong fears or phobias is how you died in a past life. That provides some comfort...lightning doesn't strike the same place twice, right?

Spiders, getting better.
Claustrophobia, not the generally seen type, but being stuck somewhere and not being able to move is terrible. I can deal with being tied up, but put me in a box with my head sticking out, and I'll panic. I've panicked when sitting on the end seat with two other people in the back seat of a car. the lack of range of motion does it. I guess it's restriction of movement by being pinned against solid objects. |

I'm afraid of damn near everything, but I've overcome pretty much all of my fears when I need to. For example, I hate ledges... but when I was hiking and the rest of the group was waiting for me on the other side, I just walked over it. Basically, fear is a matter of convienence for me. If it's inconvienent to be afraid, then I'm not. The rest of the time, ledges make me crap myself.

Coulrophobia (the fear of clowns).
I kid you not, I hate them, scared shitless of them. I'm also not fond of sport team mascots.

Not real big on spiders and snakes. Little spiders don't freak me out, but the big nasty looking ones do. Blech.
Not real fond of hights. I can get up on my roof and clean gutters and I love the window seat on the plane, it's standing on top of a building and looking straight down that freaks me out. Recently I was in a meeting in a hotel in downtown Chicago. The room we were in was on the 40th floor and had an impressive view of the city. I was sitting in a chair, facing away from the windows and had the strange sensation that the chair was slowly sliding toward the window, where I would fall to my death. Made for a fun meeting. 'Course, I still want to skydive and bungee jump. Gotta face your fears!

creepy-crawly things.
bugs, spiders mostly. snakes and rodents are ok..more so, at least. but bugs, especially the ones that fly or are nasty-lookin like roaches or centipedes....*shiver* and there's lots of spiders here in Germany, more than there were in Minnesota.

I only have slight phobias... I'm afraid of heights, but only when I'm on unsteady footing, such as a roof, ladder, tree, etc. If I'm peering down off the top of the Empire State Building or out of an airplane window, I'm perfectly fine. Get me climbing an eight foot ladder, and I go crazy!
Also, I'm a bit claustrophobic (sp?)... I can't stand being in really small areas where I can't stand up and walk around easily (ie Crawlspaces, ductwork, etc) and also can't stand to be in crowds where I can barely move around.... Other than that... I'm pretty much fine with everything..

I'm afraid of something bad happening to my friends or family.
There are other things which bother me a little, but I can usually ignore them when I have to. For example, I'm not a big fan of public speaking, but I have given a few public speeches without too much trouble.
