Done with a 3 1/4" Galvanized framing nail, at about 90PSI. Gun bounced off the wood, nail never touched anything else.

Bad day. Yup.

Grasshopper Green 08-26-2005 03:35 PM

ACK!!! I was expecting a kind of bloody piercing or something, not that!!

I'm assuming you went to the hospital and had it removed??

Banginblaz 08-26-2005 03:38 PM

yeah, 12 shots of novacaine, and a good pair of linesman pliers latter, it was out.

Suzz04 08-26-2005 04:43 PM

shesus 08-26-2005 05:56 PM

Yikes, I don't think I would have had the concentration to take a pic after that. I hope you heal quickly and went to the hospital.

JumpinJesus 08-26-2005 05:56 PM

What is that, a 6 gauge?

You should've walked around town like that for a few days and when you saw someone with a septum piercing or something of the like you could've walked up to them and said, "You think you're hardcore? Check this out!"

ryfo 08-26-2005 06:53 PM

What body piercing shop did that???????????? ouchie!!!!

canuckguy 08-26-2005 07:11 PM

That is crazy! Totally freaked me out a bit, made me jump! I was doing some nailing eariler today and can totally picture doing that to myself. hope you hand gets better soon. ouch!

SaltPork 08-26-2005 08:08 PM

Irishsean 08-26-2005 08:49 PM

Damn, ow...

Although I do know a couple places that you could get some cool custom jewelry to put in those holes. I do know of a couple people who have healed trans-finger piercings! :p

zxello 08-26-2005 10:37 PM

im pretty much steeled to most stuff, but i admit, i was startled.

analog 08-26-2005 10:43 PM

LMAO! That's awesome, man!!

Good job! :)

Vincentt 08-26-2005 11:18 PM

Well! That got my heart going!

So I'm sure your first thought was "SHIT!"
How far down on the list of thoughts was "I need to take a picture of this!"?

aberkok 08-27-2005 01:22 AM

Permission to laugh, sir!

BigGov 08-27-2005 01:36 AM

Stepped on a nail while rebuilding our deck a few years ago. Was holding 3 nail filled boards at the moment as well and the nail went in at a weird angle so I couldn't get the nail out for about 15 seconds.

Yup, nails + human body = bad day.

annie1962 08-27-2005 01:57 AM

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!

Johnny Pyro 08-27-2005 02:07 AM

Looks like it didn't bleed at all. Man, you had to be in shock, right? Sweet pic

El Pollo 08-27-2005 05:36 AM

Please tell me that didn't go through the bones.
You look like the victim of cartoon violence. No more Itchy & Scratchy for you.

Charlatan 08-27-2005 05:44 AM

Before you know it, all the cool kids will be doing this but we'll know you started the trend!

theguyondacouch 08-27-2005 06:59 AM

Nailguns can be your best friend, or your very worst. Seems to be the latter today.

Zeraph 08-27-2005 11:14 AM

Wowza, that is wicked cool

oh and uh hope youre OK :)

Munku 08-27-2005 12:17 PM

Holy shit, I take it that wasn't through the bone.. I love how people get these accidents and then rush to take pics. Like the video of the guy sawing his fingers off.. Kinda crazy these days.. "Better get this on film to show on the net!" Hope you're ok man :(

Banginblaz 08-27-2005 12:50 PM

Man, thanks for all the feedback, I wasnt sure how this thread was going to go.

Responces, in no particular order,

I took the pic only after an EMT walked by and said "Wow, thats cool, can I take a pic?" So I let him, and thought it was a good idea, so did it myself. Took my three tries tho...

After they pulled it out I thought the smae thing about putting a barbell in the holes, but doing construction it prolly wouldnt work out ;)

It completely missed the bone in the pointer, and scraped the bone in my middle finger, so I got lucky there. I here fingertip bones never heal right.

It happend almost 2 weeks ago, and I still have minimal sensation in my fingertips, so I may never fully heal. Ill try to find my camera (my wife had it last.....) to show the end result. It looks damn good for what happened, you really cant tell.

I was kinda in shock, I was a litle dizzy, had no color, and was running around screaming. Very much like a cartoon now that I think of it. The funny thing is that I even started swearing in spanish. Luckly we had a cooler full of drinks and ice right there, so I grabbed the biggest hunk I saw, and held on to it untill I got to the hospital, so by then my hand was pretty numb.

Thanks again for the positive remarks, they definatly made me feel better.

Ill ckeck in again once I get my camera.

Tim

LMAO That's awesome. I did that once when someone accidentally slammed a door on my fingers at work. I held it in to the bathroom, shut the door, and let fly a completely unholy selection of the worst cussing there ever was- also in spanish, and one or two italian. lol I walk out about 2 minutes later, and the entire store staff except one person is in the back room... staring at the bathroom waiting for me to get out... and they're all wide-eyed, a few of them pale, from the loudness, severity, and thoroughness of the cursing.

The assistant manager said she's never even heard half of the words i used (she looked flushed, too, i think i freaked her out), and they were all amazed I randomly broke into swearing in spanish, which i'm also pretty ok at. lol

The pain was incredible, but i knew i hadn't broken anything, so it was a matter of just icing it and not using it... but I told the assistant I had to go and get it x-rayed, so i could leave. lol She saus, "y... yeah, absolutely... and... you feel better, ok?" all stuttering because she was still in shock. Poor woman.

TexanAvenger 08-27-2005 07:56 PM

How many people can tell stories about the one time they got nailed really good?

My advice is this: until the holes heal, use them to hang things on. You know, like that loop on the side of jeans for hammers. It'll be really helpful.

nailed... I crack me up.

Daniel_ 08-27-2005 11:11 PM

ouch.

just - ouch.

Hop you're healing well - fingers are a bitch.

Destrox 08-28-2005 10:29 AM

Daaaaaaaaaaamn.

THink of all the fun ice breakers that event will help for those dull conversations. :)

lindalove 08-28-2005 03:55 PM

Seems to be surprisingly clean for a wound though. How come?

Spartak 08-28-2005 05:57 PM

At first I thought, "Oh you're holding the nail but where's the piercing?", then I looked closer and oh dear :(

ScottKuma 08-30-2005 09:30 AM

Wow. That's some kinda hurt.

Hadn't started bleeding yet, due the the wound track being filled?

JustJess 08-30-2005 09:39 AM

That and ice would slow bleeding quite a bit.

I'm sorry it hurt so bad, but now, it's a great scar story! I would definitely tell people, 'oh, yeah, got this one in a fight with a guy with a nail gun. no biggie, it missed the bones.'

Looking forward to scar pics!

Daknjak 08-30-2005 01:05 PM

The only word I have is ouch. Anytime you get something stuck in your hand or fingers is bad news. Mostly because you know it has to now Come Out.

On a side note, a guy I worked with put a nail through his hand into a board he was framing a roof with. (Not sure what size those are 2x6?) They had to cut the board off, and he went to the hospital holding it with his hand firmly attached. I guess there was glue on the nails in the gun, and it stuck it pretty good on there. That was definitely an ouch also.
