just a meaningless observation
I've noticed over the last few days how many posts have a responce one less than that read.
I mean 10 people are listed as having read a thread and 9 people have posted a reply. Strange. (I don't expect this useless thread to be one of them) |

I always thought it was because when you post the thread, you (the thread starter) clock up the first view, so you will always have at least that one view before anyone else takes a look, and they add up from there.

I first noticed it in the Lit forum.. it seems the view counter for views only are not getting recorded for some reason, so the 1 off is the first poster then subsequent replies.

I have been seeing 0 views and multiple responses. Just figure Stephen Hawking will give a pop science answer I can swallow whole and get on with my TFPing.

If the TB required a webcam feed to allow return access, the demographic of TFP would quite possibly "swing" wildly in as yet uncharted directions, what with the webcam showing just how the "posts" are handled by the exhibition of the unlurked masses.

The thread is presently listing at 24/25. I've been into the thread several times, but only (with this post) posted twice. So, apparently, each person only counts for one view. Cool, I never knew (or thought about) that.

Hmm. I viewed then backed out then came back several times before posting this and the numbers stayed the same. It's thread voodoo, I tell you.
