Well, I'm leaving...
FOR JAPAN!
That's right, 8am flight out of San Francisco to Vancouver, then I'm off with a friend to the land of the rising sun for a month. I've spent quite a while planning and preparing for this, which should explain my lack of presence on the boards. I'll have minimal internet access, but I plan on writing down my thoughts and perhaps posting whatever I find interesting in here for discussion. If anyone is currently in Japan and would like meet up, shoot me a pm. My itinerary is roughly two weeks in Tokyo and Chiba, 4 days or so in Yokohama and Odawara, and the remainder of our time will be spent in Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. On the way back we'll be spending about 3 days in Vancouver (cause it's a free extended layover) それでは。。。 |

What are you in for? Bus. or pleasure? I've been here almost three months now, but I haven't partied that much, lots of classes :) |
travel and leisure this time around, i'm planning on checking out waseda and yokohama university, since my school will let me study at those for a year. leaving this city in an hour and a half!
|
Sounds exciting. I've always been interested/allarmed by the thought of travellig to Asia - it's about as different from North West Europe as one can get - that's the attraction and the fear.
Have a whale of a time ;) |
Safe travels, bermuDa!! Try to get out of the city and into the countryside if you can for some time - you will have the experience of a lifetime!
|
Happy trails... and enjoy it...
JOurnal it as much as possible while it's happening -- so you have something to look back on later... |
I think Waseda is the best. Just I have heard great things from the students who go there.
I live maybe 5min or so away from Waseda. I go to a diffrent school though. |
Wow, sounds like a fun trip ahead of you. Have a great time!
|
Awesome - have a great ride!
|

I'm making journal entries now, already posted a couple
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/journal...wjournal&j=188 first one is boring, but I think you guys will like the culture shock corner. |
Not boring at all - it's interesting to go along for the ride with you -- and experience a new culture thru your eyes...
Thanks for journalling for us... |
I'm back in the states, and I'm proud to say that I was able to keep the journal up for the most part. I've made almost an entry for each day I was there, and there's still much more to come, in the latest entry I've started compiling a list of things to talk about, mainly for the purpose of creating a primer for people who want to spend time in Japan. If you have anything to add to the list, let me know and I'll try to get around to every topic. My main goal is to write this primer in Japanese, so there might be some entries people might not be able to read until I translate them into english.
|
Glad you are back home, and sounds like you had a great adventure... The journal was a great read... Very descriptive and informative... I looked forward to the entries... and the primer you are going to write will be a value to many people
