Prince Charles/Camilla Wedding...who watched coverage?
 

Im watching CNN at the moment and watching all the guests arrive for the Blessing....my god where do women find hats like these?

I honestly thought that Camilla looked very very pretty, Charles just looks old, Harry still looks goofy and my god William gets hotter every day.

I know lots of people dont care about this, or are appalled by it or whatever, but I for one am glad to see that true love has won out and that they are now married :)

I say good for them - I hope this gives them both a lot of happiness. 30 years is a long time to wait to be with the one you love.

He's a pot smoker, as far as I know. I think he'd be called Henry if he ever took the throne... isn't that how it works?

My mother was just commenting on how much it costs us to keep our royal family there, while in the meantime, we can't house or educate properly, and our healthcare is totally inadequte. I'm inclined to agree. This is all just spectacle.

I wish the royal family would explode. Useless bunch of nutsacks.

But whatever would the media do without having to report on the royals... Wouldn't some papers just go under completely without the antics of the Windsors on the front page? Actually report real news? Oh where's the fun in that?

Nah, they wouldn't go under. We've got a million and one train wrecks to report on, the royal family is just one of many.

You mean today they get married? It seems like forever that the will-he won't-he chit chat has been sprinkled in the papers. I mean years. So now does he step aside and let the blond god William be heir apparent for mumsie?

BTW I would love to see the final results of DNA testing on that red head son - he looks a lot like a certain polo-playing cad that Diana once had a tendre for. When will a tabloid pick up a paper cup he used, or something similar, and pay to get testing done? Not that I care, but I find that an interesting sidebar. The social systems that the Royal Family personify have been in place (albiet in an evolving manner) for thousands of years. The occassional cuckoo egg in the royal baby carriage is a given. Which means that the system supports the system, not the bloodline. I find that interesting for sure. That was an unproven tidbit/flourish in the Mel Gibson flick Braveheart.

Hahahhaha that's exactly what I was thinking when I watched the show as I was working out half an hour ago. It's like they're having some sort of ugly hat competition amongst themselves :hmm:

he's sitting here talking for charles saying "hey baby, when we get to scotland I want you kneeling just like this.....I want you to resay your wedding vows with your mouth full"

As hot as i'm sure he is, especially being a prince and heir to the throne, which of course has noting to do with it, he is going slightly thin on top. I give 5 years then he'll look like prince edward.

Now that that's out of the way, good for Charles and Camilla. They deserve their happiness, as well.

I watched very end of it. I'm kinda glad I did not watch the whole thing.

I didnt watch it, although all through town they were ringing the bloody church bells for hours before hand.

Personally, Im not that interested in it. He always loved her, and his life would have run a lot better if he had had the guts to stand up to his father and marry who he wanted - and so would Diana's life have been better too. He made mistakes, as everyone does, I dont see any reason why he doesnt deserve happiness now (I dont go in for all these conspiracy theories that he had Diana killed)... but Im not that interested in seeing him get married or have to publically apologise for his "sins" either.

Whoever his biological father is, Charles is and has always been his father. I cant see any value in DNA testing or anything like that.

So how much does it cost the taxpayer to keep them there? Because as far as I know, the answer is 'very little' and certainly not enough to blame problems in other departments on their existence.

As much of an anti-Royalist as I am, this argument against them just doesn't hold water for me, especially since they voluntarily started paying income tax.

That's the thing about the tabloids - they exist without value. I'm just surprised that they haven't gone there yet - but I guess that inspite of the egalitarian posturing it would be a rough and uncertain step to take for a paper to publish such a thing because the ferocious backlash fueled by just such things as the fact that Charles is his father.

I think that Mrs Charles is recieving more sympathy as a backlash to the unneccessary sniping she has been recieving for the past 20 years or so as well. She deserves a place in heaven for the unasked for grief she's been given.

If Charles is not his father then he is not in line for the throne and neither would his children be.

I didn't watch, but I did browse some pics after the ceremony. I hope they are happy and have a nice future together. I'm just happy hats and other ornate headgear aren't that popular in the US.

Oh, why not? I think it's an interesting phenomenon, kind of like vestiges of tribal headgear. The display of feathers is kind of like a display of power. It's always interesting to watch social displays, to me anyway.

I watched a lot of it, it was a nice show. Charles and Camilla looked so cute together, I hope they'll live happily ever after. The coolest part was that Russian contra-alto, her singing sent shivers down my spine. According to the BBC commentator she had been flown in as a wedding present from the Marinskij Theatre. How cool is that?!?

Speaking of hats. That... thing that Camilla's daughter had on her head, what was that? And did noone tell her that it did not match the rest of her outfit?

You must go to the Kentucky Derby.. it's all about the hats at that event... with a horse race throw in just for fun...

I personally thought Camilla seemed a bit awkward and doddering in the wedding fotage, like she didn't quite have her balance. She certainly didn't seem graceful. The Royal's seem so antiquated in this day and age that I don't pay much attention to them beyond the snipettes I see on the news.

That said, I grew up during the era of "Charles and Diana" and it was kind-of hard not to be aware of the "Royal Family". Someone said that Charles' father was the one who didn't approve of Camilla. He could have saved the whole world a bunch of heartache and/or tabloid fodder by allowing Charles to marry her to begin with. Now it's come full circle and Charles is finally marrying her after about 20 yrs. of scandel about the "Royal's"

Why so many people waste their energies caring about this handfull of inbred people, I'll never fathom. I'm guessing that after Charles rule (if it ever comes to pass), the Royal family will be done with the public (through legislature or just plain apathy). The bloodline will still exist obviously, though I see it dying a slow public death (o'kay maybe part-way through the oldest son's life- Harry?). Then again, I live in America so my thoughts are not based on an Englander's facts-of-life, just someone observing from afar.

I'm finding it hard to scrape together enough motivation to type "I don't care," much less go on a rant about WHY I couldn't possibley be convinced I need to spend any time on this situation.

Why does anyone, especially somone not British, find reason to care? This can't possibley affect your life any more than in the most theoretical sense. Is it because "Days of Our Lives" has weaker than normal writing, and this is the "real life" version for you? What?

What I thought was admirable was the charming story of an elderly New Zealand Woman who started up a campaign many years ago, a 'anti-hate' campaign defending Camilla, and she was invited to the wedding!

Hmm...interesting comparison there. Frankly, I see hats as something to keep your head warm and dry. Not to mention, hats give me incredibly bad hat hair and if I were to wear one for fashion purposes, the minute I took it off my style would be out the window :lol:
